What are you afraid of that common sense says you shouldn't be?

I'm talking about things like being afraid of clowns, dirt, that a wayward gps satellite will fall on your head, that stepping on a crack will give you bad luck, that breaking a mirror means you'll have 7 years of misfortune, etc. I don't think i'm afraid of much. Are YOU? Can't wait to see the answers to this!

I'm afraid of spiders. I know that's a common phobia, but if you think about it common sense would say one shouldn't be afraid of things so much smaller then us.

Actually anything venomous or poisonous makes sense to be afraid of - to a certain degree. Of course being careful to avoid things like that is wise, but it doesn't make sense to go running and screaming if you SEE a spider on tv, know what I mean? LOL!

The only thing I see on the TV lately that makes me go running out of the room screaming is Nancy Pelosi.

Even small venomous spiders can kill a human, and then there is the possibility of a septic infection fror a spider bite (sepsis can kill ya) or a fatal allergic reaction to a bite, nope, your fear really isn't too illogical at all.

i'm afraid of cockroaches and spiders and people always remind me that i am far bigger than insects so it is illogical to be afraid of them. but i can't help it

I'm not 'afraid' of cockroaches or spiders but I HATE them. Let me put it this way, if there is someone ELSE better equipped to kill the cockroach or spider, I try to get them to do it while I head the other way as fast as I can. If *I* am the one best equipped to deal with it because the people with me are either all freaking out or little people, then I squash the damn thing and save the world. /bow SAVE THE CHEERLEADER. SAVE THE WORLD. LOL!

The only thing I can honestly say I'm afraid of is that one day Lady Clairol isn't going to have my hair color anymore. It scares the h*ll out of me that I might have to go BLONDE! ROFL

I'm a skeered of everything! I have more phobia's than the book of phobia's! seriously! I'm afraid of large bodies of water -- even though I can swim.. good! I'm terrified of worms-- even though I know they can't bite me I'm really scared of snails-- even though I know they are harmless to humans I'm scared of stairs-- I have nightmares about falling down flights of them.. even though once I did fall down 4 steps and broke both my legs, I've had the fear my whole life. I'm afraid of heights-- even though I'm nearly 6'1 I'm scared of bread-- yes! bread! -- even though I love it.. I am scared of getting choked. I'm scared of the dark-- even though I'm 43 years old! I don't like it.. and it feels like I'm suffocating! I am terrified of silence... total silence scares the chit outta me!-- I would rather die than to hear it. I am terrified of air planes --though I've never been on one.. I don't see me EVER being that high up in the air on anything that looks like it could fall down! I'm scared of boats-- I've only been on one once.. and we were still in the parking lot.. didn't actually get in the water.. it didn't look safe to me! I'm scared of clowns -- come on! even Tammy Faye scared me! I'm terrified of robots-- even movies with robots! I just don't trust em! I'm scared of fish-- never touched one and since I'm allergic to them I can't even tell you what they taste like! oh! but I love to fish! shall I continue? lol! there's about a million more!

I used to not mind flying on planes or riding on rollercoasters (other than the fear of heights)... UNTIL I took physics in college. Oh, wait, it has to be at a certain SPEED??? Uh huh. Oh, and if it's a roller coaster and goes too fast OR too slow, you go flying off??? Ummmmm... nope. I've also developed claustrophobia. I felt like I was going to freak out the other day riding in the back seat of my MILs Honda. Don't get me started about when hubby is blocking my way between the counter and the island in the kitchen. My boss said I seem to exhibit it worse when I am stressed, which may be the truth.

Sometimes ignorance truly IS bliss! There are so many things I wish I never learned! I've got the same problem as you when stuffed in a small car or crowded in my kitchen. I keep telling them it is not a good idea to make me feel claustrophobic in my own kitchen WHERE THE KNIVES ARE, but nobody listens. I'm sure they'll pay attention when they find a steak knife in their butts! I have a sister named Paula, I wonder if that's why we have so much in common? Do you have a sister named Marianne? LOL

I live in the foothills of the rocky mountains. I am always afraid that while driving through the mountains, rocks will start falling. I am not sure that lacks common sense since you can see the rocks that have fallen, but everybody laughs at me for it.

Over here around the Smokies they have signs "Watch out for Falling Rock", so I wouldn't say you sound are too off on that fear.

Up here we've got the Appalachians and Catskills, also "beware of falling rocks" signs, and the only rocks I see above the road are HUGE boulders, NOT very reassuring! Nope, that fear is perfectly sensible to me, the people laughing at you won't be laughing when a big ole rock lands on them!

Hey mommyboo! I'm afraid of clowns! I don't know why but I don't like them and never have! They give me the creeps! Alot of people feel the same way and there is a name for it, but I can't remember it! I have broken so many mirrors so if that's the reason my life is so damn unlucky oh well! Oh, and I don't like crowds too much or closed in spaces! I think that will do it! None of those things are to the point where it stops my "show" as my boyfriends says!

I suffer from several phobias. The main one being that I cannot take heights. As a child of six or so I was held over a castle from the top and I have never got over it. The next thing that I really hate are rats. They would live in the banana fields so consequently I never visited the banana fields on foot. I hat them with a passion. I am not taking about mice but HUGE RATS Ugh, Ugh, Can't even bear to write the word. The last mega thing that scares me - wait for it - RAT BATS. If they get stuck in your hair they have to be cut out. Gross.

I refuse to kill a spider, unless they are near my baby's crib. I do not kill spiders because if I kill one, all his friends hiding in the dark corners will know what I did and they will take their vengeance on me in my sleep! I made a deal with them, you don't pop in front of my face unexpectedly or go near my babies and I'll leave you alone, at worst, I'll catch you and set you free outside - BUT startle me or go near my younguns and all bets are off and I'm all about the killing, spider mafia vengeance be damned.

I'm scared to squish a spider with toilet paper, flush him, and then use the toilet right after. What if I didn't squish him good enough, and he can swim? And what if while I am going, he manages to climb back out and bite me??? I'm being serious. I know it's irrational, but I'm glad I'm not the only one worried about spider revenge.

Here's three more: A madrassa educated jihadist sympathizer/appeaser taking over the USA, setting the terrorists at Gitmo free and allowing the people responsible for the attack on the US Cole escape prosecution, while also suspending the trials of the architects of the 9/11/2001 attacks delaying or denying the justice that the families of 3000 innocent victims have been waiting over 7 years for even more. The incompetent media brainwashing slightly more than half the US voting population to elect a non-qualified leftist to the highest office in our land, even if he is constitutionally INELIGIBLE to hold that office. Politicians indebting my children, grandchildren and great grandchildren to pass a huge spending bill that is only going to serve to line the pockets of corrupt politicians, foreigners, illegal aliens and corrupt/inept businesses disguised as a plan to help the people who are suffering the most right now as a direct result of the corrupt and inept actions from the people that the new spending plan is going to further enrich! ...wait a minute... Too late, we're DOOMED! (insert angry red faced emoticon here)
