In this world there are so many types of dog Breed. In my household alone we have 3 different kind of dog. I adopted all my dogs from the humane society just to give them a better life. The first dog I have Leo is a schanuzer/ rat terrier mix. HE is pretty amazing for his kind. He does alot of tricks and is hypo- allergenic. My Bear is a newfoundland and german sheaperd mix. He is so mellow that you would want him at your house. He is just a Cuddly dog. My third dog is comet, she is a german sheaperd and something. The humane society did not know what she is mixed with. She is really hyper and loves to run. So Tell me what kind of dog breed you like and why?

Wow, that's a hard one to answer. I love love loved my chow mix I had for 11 years. I think he had some german sheperd in him. He was the perfect dog. Didn't chew, dig or do any other annoying habits, even when he was a puppy. He loved everyone. If you brought them in, they were an automatic friend. He really loved men. He seemed to think they were a new friend just for him. I miss him a lot. I have a maltese now that I absolutely adore. She is my little sweetheart, lovebug. I have a friend who has two bichons that are lovely, fun, happy, easy going doggies. I wouldn't mind having one of my own, but will wait untill "the next dog" before getting one. My baby girl comes first. :)

Oh yeah, I do have to say that I like calmer, more gentle dogs, over hyper, very active dogs. I like more of a lap dog, or even one that will sit or lie down beside you and get their exercise when they "go out".

My first choice will always be the German Shepherd Dog. When I was born, my family had a 3 year old Shepherd. He lived to be 15 years old - ancient for a large breed! Baron was an amazing dog. While I know that each dog is different, I will always have a place in my heart for this breed.
Currently, I have a Plott Hound-mix puppy that we adopted from the Humane Society. There are pictures of her in my profile. Previous to our meeting her, I had never heard of a Plott Hound. Fortunately, it seems that whatever the 'mix' is is taking precedence in her size as she is staying on the smaller side. Our vet thinks she might have some Whippet in her.

My friend from college Have a german shepherd. They are a very obedient dog. I would like to have a German Shepherd pup once I am able too. I have a small breed pup too. The dogs in my house range from the large to the small.. Its nice to have a small breed as you don't have a 110 pound dog sleep on you. my German shepherd mix dog thinks that he is light as feather and still want to cuddle and sit on your lap. I let him get away with sleepin on the couch when my fiance is not around.

First off, thank you so much for adopting your pets from the Humane Society. Sounds like you have a variety of wonderful dogs. Like you, I love all animals and will always adopt from the Humane Society/SPCA. In my opinion, dogs that are "saved" are well aware of their good luck and are so grateful to please their masters. I'll bet the Newfoundland/German Shepard is a hunk of sweet love...and probably huge! Thanks again and have fun.

To be honest, I am a cat person, but if I had to pick a breed, hmm that's a tough one. In cats and dogs both I like one who will cuddle, but also likes to play. I'm not too big on dogs that lick a lot because I've never really liked their slobber. I used to have a dog that was a licker and she got on my nerves. I had a lab/cocker mix a while back though and she was great. She didn't lick very much and she loved to play. Even at 15+ years old she would chase this rabbit around a friend of the family's yard. But, she'd cuddle and be a big teddy bear too. I've also been around two chows that were really sweet too. I am visually impaired and they both knew it. My stepdad's dog, a black chow, would just lounge in the middle of the way and if I stumbled over her, she didn't seem to care. Sheba, my grandparen'ts red chow would lounge in her spot, but she always got up for me to pass and then flopped right back down. lol they were great. And both of them weren't big lickers either.

We currently have an elderly Doberman cross, and a 9 yr old Rat Terrier.
We have also had: a Collie / Husky / Coyote mix, A Border Collie mix, an Australian Shepherd / Chow mix, and a Lab. Our little Lab had a bad heart and never made it to 6 mths old. She was a rescue
Preferred breeds are: Terriers, Borzoi's, Greyhounds.

I like small dogs. I am actually looking for a dog currently. I have looked into Yorkshires, yorkipoos, malteses, bichon frises, shitzhu and poodles. I like the mixed breeds because they are hypoallergic and do not shed. The mixed breeds also are more prone to be better tempered and smarter. A bad aspect of mixed dogs is that they are not as predictable as pure breeds. All the dogs I have mentioned need to be brushed at least twice a week because they are long haired. Short haired dogs are more easy to take care of since they don't need to be groomed as often.

Previously I had a mix terrier (photo is in my avatar), but she passed away last year due to old age. So I never got my self another dog. But in future when my husband and I move to a landed house (we staying in an apartment now), we would get a german sheperd and a siberian husky. I like husky.
