TV Marathon or Movie Marathon...

Do you like to watch your favorite TV series on a weekly basis? Or do you prefer to watch them when there is a marathon of the whole series? That way, you can catch the whole season all at one go and not be left clinging on a cliff hanger at the end of an episode? Same goes for movies. Do you like to watch your movies one at a time? Or will you go all out and join a movie marathon when there is one? For example, when there is a new release for Star Wars, the cinemas will usually organize a special Star Wars Movie marathon where you can watch the previous installments of the movie series before going on to the current one. So share with me. What is your preference?

I will go for tv marathon rather than movies marathon.. haha =D Just like u say, i dun wanna be caught in the suspense when it's the most exciting part of it, i will wanna keep watchin the whole thing.. lol =D ON top of that, it's much easier for me to absorb the whole series, as i'm not only watching a tv series a day.. lol =D I dun like movies marathon is because whatever ends in the 1st part, might not be linked to the start of the 2nd part.. IT's only due the following thru the whole movie itself, only then one can see the connection.. hehe ^_^ It's more like a waste of time to me.. haha

Yeah, I too love to be able to watch all my favorite series in one sitting. But that will invoke the ire of my wife! But that would be nice. To couch out all day in front of the TV! Well, as for movies, some movies have to watch the earlier installments in order to refresh your memory before watching the latest installment.

You sound just like my wife! She does that too when we are watching DVDs to follow up on a series. It is so irritating~! What is the fun in watching a show if you are always hitting the fast forward button?

Yeah, but sitting down for the whole day is not good too, and when i'm able to finish the series at one go, i will tend to skip those boring parts.. lol =D In the end, i might end up no knowing what the whole show is about too.. lol =D It will be even worse when i'm watching on DVDs, i will just fast forward the whole show.. haha

Wow, and you watch a whole season of a series in one sitting? You buy or rent the series to watch? I too love to watch TV. And one day, when I have kids, I too want to make that a family bonding time with them as well.

We got to finish season 2 of heroes in one sitting coz there were only around 11 episodes. The other series took us around 3-4 days per season...we've bought all those dvd's since we enjoy watching tv a lot.

Wow... I find it so expensive to buy them disc set. So I usually will wait for the series to be shown on TV before I watch them. It is good that you and your family has adopted some family bonding habit. Not many family can claim that. Good for you!

Marathon of house? As in the series House? Yeah, those are nice too. I like to watch marathons when they have it on TV. It is a good chance for me to catch up on my series. Especially those episodes I missed due to work or something.

I prefer Movie marathon.. hubby bought new DVDS to watch over the weekend.. we don't have cable TV here in the condo so i can only get to watch local TV programs and some foreign tv shows like 2nd Avenue( Ellen De Generes, Top Chef).. Tonight, i'm going to see Eagle Eye movie, i can't wait.. =)

Hmm... the condos here also have the same problem. But of late, one of the telcos are offering Demand-on-TV. This service is as close to cable as one can get. It uses the broadband to stream the videos to you. So, how often do you or your spouse organize a movie marathon?

I have several programs that I watch on a weekly basis. Over the past year though, my hubby and I started buying DVD's of various shows. We started with Season 1 of Mash and are now ready to buy Season 9. We also have other television series that we buy as well, like Supernatural, Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis, NYPD Blue, X Files and others. Tomorrow night we will buy Season 5 of Stargate SG1 and we will watch three or four episodes a night until the season is finished. We love that series. We are also avid movie watchers. We tend to buy three or four DVD's and watch them on a weekend. That's how we relax.

Wow, 3 to 4 movie per weekend? At $20-30 per movie DVD, you are spending like about a hundred dollars per week on movies leh! That is like 36-48 movies per year! You must have a very extensive video library! Man, wouldn't I love to browse through your DVD collection!

It's not as expensive as you would think. We spend on average $20-$25 on movies because we buy previously viewed or on sale, and we don't buy them every weekend. Even some of our tv series are not that expensive. They average about $50.00, depending on the series. We will only buy a series about once a month. Also our friends and family know how much we love these, so we get them as gifts for Christmas, birthdays, etc.

I hate clifhangers on of tv series... that is why i prefer to just have a tv series marathon when i get the dvd of 1 whole season... that way i won't be left hanging as to what would really happen or that i will instantly know what the mystery is all about... This is how i came to love TV series like Prison Break, Lost, Ugly Betty, and Heroes...

Yeah, I feel the same way too. But I am too stingy to fork out that money to buy the DVDs. So I wait for channels like Star World or Universal to organize them and I sit and watch all day! But there are times when even you got the whole series to sit down to, there are still cliff hangers at the end of the season. Two good examples are CSI:Miami and CSI:New York. Here, I am still waiting for the two series to broadcast the latest season so that I can find out what happened to Horatio and Mack!

Awww... that would be so nice. To be able to sit and watch Smallville all day. So far, I only managed to catch most of season 1 and a few episodes here and there of the remainder of the series. I sure hope they have a Smallville on TV soon so that I can catch up on my TV series a little! :p

Well, at least you have a choice of one or the other. There are many times when you really feel like watching something good to relax. It doesn't matter if it is on the big screen on the television. But no matter how hard you try to find something, there is just nothing on that would rouse your interest. Those are the times I really hate and wished that there was some marathon to go after!
