When I was in school and college cell phones had not yet been invented and I think it was probably just as well. Surely there is a time and place for everything? School is for studying is it not? It should prepare us for what comes after. If a atudent uses their school time for sending text then will they continue doing so once they are at work too? I just can't bear to think what would happen if instead of working and getting on with their job, some were busy sending text instead. An airline pilot for example or a doctor The list is endless but that was my thought when I read your topic.

It is a kind of relaxation you know. You cannot listen to a lecture for more hours continuously

I had no choice as there were no cell-phones then I had no idea they were invented for that purpose either - a distraction during boring lectures. Gosh progress is amazing! Have fun!

I work at the university I attend, so I text people while I'm in class if I'm trying to coordinate schedules or if I remember something important. I like to pay attention though, so not much. Be careful-- I saw a professor yell at a student in front of 150 students for texting. I think he was way out of line because it was a big class and he has no idea what was going on in that student's life, but the student didn't stickup for himself at all.

Hi, mailtoramesh. I don't like to text during the class hours. Actually i don't use mobile phone that often. Besides, i find that it shows no respect to the lecturer and calling or texting in the class are not allowed, unless i do it outside the class. Happy mylotting and have a nice day.

Yes I used to do it when I was still in school. It kept my mobile phone in silent mode and doing text behind my desk or a book. I sometimes typed my text without seeing the phone screen. I put my bag in my lap and did the texting while pretending of being attentive with our professor's discussions. I was being lucky that I never been caught doing such..

Hi, as far as i know Mobile phones are restrited inside classroom and School compound !! I never text anyone during lesson hours unless its urgent . Its something bad, messaging will prevent you from concentrating on your studies and doing so, you are also disturbing others . So from now please do take care...Meven

I only text in-between classes, because I think it's rude to text in between classes, whether the professor sees you or not. You're there to learn, not to send SMS-es. My majors professor is very, very, very strict. Yesterday one of the cellphones sounded out loud, and she sent the student out of the room for the rest of the period. It's not also humiliating, but it's also the hardest way you can learn a lesson. She's not short-tempered, rather she's very patient, but her point is that students pay their professors to teach them and not to let them go about their business without a care in the world.

I don't like to do it. I keep my phone in silent mode so that the phone will not disturb me. I hate the ring of the phone in the class, it's not polite if we hang up the phone during the class. Try to respect our classmates who give attention to the lecturer and help them by decrease the disturbance.
