I am just curious, since some people can do it without thought and some cant even imagine getting through one thing at a time... there are days that I will get 3 things done at once.... then there are days that seems near impossible to accomplish one thing... LOL
such as, do you open up 2 sites at once and work on them, while talking on the phone... or do you watch tv, work on the computer and manage to still answer some one in the house that is asking "where is this".... LOL
do you multitask? and any tips on ways to multitask?

I multitask when I'm at home. For example, watching TV and studying/doing homework (what a deadly combination!), talking on the phone and doing dishes, and pretty much anything. When you're busy.. you HAVE to multi-task. I recently STOPPED multitasking while driving after getting into an accident with someone who was talking on their cell phone while driving (and slammed into my right side because they weren't paying enough attention on the road), and so now I try not to eat, talk on the phone, smoke, and so on, when I drive - because I realized it could have been ME causing the accident.

its not a law in some counties of my state, but there are a few counties where it is banned, and you can get pulled over for it if you get caught.
I personally will not answer my phone if someone calls while I am driving, and if I can to call someone, I will either wait til I get where I am going or pull over.

Seriously, you shouldn't do that. Talking could be very distracting sometimes. Some country even have a law for this issue, I know Taiwan does have for example. Didn't your country got one?

I do multi-task. I was taught when I worked at the telephone company to 'palm my pencil', always having it handy. I think that was the beginning of my multi-tasking experience. I think if you are organized and your thoughts are clear you can multi-task.

And, if you aren't doing several things you are a nervous wreck and can't understand, for a bit, why.

I don't think I would be able to get half of what I get done everyday if I didn't multitask. I usually have laundry going, while I am getting dinner prepared and helping with homework. Very rarely do I go from one room to another empty handed, something always needs to get put away and then I find something else. My husband will call on his way home from work every night and as "Watcha doing?" My answer, everynight, is always "ten things at once"! He can barely watch t.v. and eat something at the same time.

Mothers can automatically multitask. We have to be able to or we would not make it through each day! ;)

yes, I must agree with that one, refering the kids, keeping the toys out of the way so that we dont trip on them, getting the laundry put away and managing to keep the lid down on the toilet...LMAO, all in the same minute!!
thanks so much for responding!!

Hello bookreadermom08! I do multitasking too. Sometimes, even if I talk on the phone with my husband, I am doing mylotting too. It's hard to do it but I made it.

yes, sometimes we are able to multitask more than other times...LOL
and yes, sometimes you cant focus on two things at the same time and get great results, but I think that there are some people that thrive on it and can do better in a multi task situation.
thanks for your comments!!

I am all the time doing it. I am on the computer listening and watching news on the computer and i am also attending to my cooking and at the same time talking to my mother who is sitting and watching the tv. I always multitask. if i am washing clothes ,I am also cutting vegetables, and have some thing on the stove etc; I feel that it saves a lot of time, when you do many things together..

I guess you could say I am the champ of multitasking! Even as a teenager, I would be listening to music in one ear, the baseball scores in the other ear, reading a book, watching TV and doing my homework all at once and I was paying attention and keeping track of everything going on too! I love watching TV but I have to be doing something while I watch it, something like cutting out coupons, or sewing, or playing cards or trimming my toe nails and painting my finger nails etc.. I always have to be doing something while I'm doing something, ha ha ha!

I do. And I actually love doing it. When I multitask, I finish many things at the same time. With that, I can have more free time. Also, I get more satisfaction doing it than being just slow. One tip to multitask well and good is to not lose your focus on all your tasks.

oh yeah, that is a very good tip!! I like when I get like 3 things done all within minutes of each other, and things that had been getting done pretty much together... and then its like wow, cool I did that!! LOL
thanks for the response!!

Hey bookreadermom! I have always been able to multitask! It
comes from my many years working as a legal secretary! I had
no choice but to be able to do many different things at once
and do them fast and do them right! So I do that at home as
well! I can work on the computer, clean the house, cook
and bake all at the same time! I also have a habit of doing
everything very fast! Sometimes I do things too fast and I
have to try to slow myself down!

scientifically, it is impossible to multi task. for an example, let us use the two actions patting your head and rubbing ur belly. although it appears that both r happening at the same time, the brain is really alternating between the 2 tasks, spending a tiny fraction of a second on one and then the other.
I realize this isn't the answer u wanted but im just giving u the facts

I am a multi-tasker. I hate being stuck in one site. Most of the time, several sites are opened in my computer and at the same time I am teaching my students. Whenever I stick in one site, I get irritated.. I dunno why!!

well, i believe a multitasker is born with the talent.. a multitasker that do many things at a go, but may not perform well in it, while a non-multitasker although only do one thing at a time, focus and concentration is there, thus are able to do all the things at the end eventually well..
lol, maybe a good mylotter can open several windows and answer all topics at the same time, thats the advantage i can think of now.. :)

I've been multi-tasking since I started working. My position entitles me to do so. Because of so many tasks I have to perform and fulfill, I am oblige to be one. It is great when you accomplish two or more things at a time.

thanks for the response.

Time is too short but there are long list of things to be done each day therefore multitasking is really necessary. I do multitasking whether at home or in the office. I do answer phone calls while checking some reports. I do the laundry while cooking. I do gardening while baking. I do iron clothes while watching TV. I do 3 online sites at the same time.
