You could have your work copyrighted and that would protect you from any infringement. You could sue those who copy your book and get lots of money that way. Cheers!!

Do not post your book anywhere on the web. It can get easily stolen. Make sure you do some research on the publishers you are sending it to, that should tell you which ones are legitimate. Make sure you keep track of who you send it to. Also, if it is saved to your computer, your time stamps there are very valuable.

If you are sending the book to legitimate publishers, you don't really have to worry about your work getting stolen. That is most likely to happen if you publish it on the Internet. In most cases, you don't need to send the entire book to the publisher anyway. You send a letter of inquiry, a summary of your book, and a couple of chapters.
Online, you have very little protection. You would have to discover who stole your work and then prove it, a costly business. Once again, if you are trying to showcase your work, only put a sample of it online. Or keep it on a protected site that people need a password to view. This will enable you to maintain security. Most thieves are going for the easy steal. They will just go to writing sites and steal work from people who post articles there.
Good luck with your writing.

I dont know what to tell you about this. I hope that you will be able to make it happen. It would really be awful if you lost all your hard work and someone stole it. That would not be fair at all. I wish you luck in being able to keep your work safe and being able to get published. It would be great.

Don't let anyone read it until you have it copyrighted and ready for publishing. That way no one else can lay claim to your fortune, if it turns out selling well.
