i read the book twilight by stephanie meyers and then saw the movie. personally, i love them both! there are only two thing that i believe could have made the movie better,if it had been as detailed as the book and included all of the events the book had. meyers made everything so realistic for me when i was reading and the movie took away from that in a way by cutting some of the events and leaving out some of the detail.well, that was just my opinion what do you think? did you like the movie? did you like the book? which did you like more? why do you like that better?
thnks, heatherr

Hello there Heather! Welcome to Mylot! I am a huge Twilight fan, literally a die hard fan. I was a little backwards. I ended up seeing the movie first and I loved it! So then when I knew that there were books I knew I just had to read them. So there I was a Friday night deep down into Twilight! While I was reading the book I feel in love with the characters, I could not put down the book no matter what! Now I am a single mother of two so believe me I lost sleep. But anyways back on subject! I was serverly disappointed with the movie after reading the book. I feel that the movie didn't even get the intensity of Bella and Edwards love and attraction for each other. And then they even added events into the movie that weren't even in the book. I think now the only thing I have to thank for the movie was that they added faces to my characters. I don't regret watching the movie first, because the movie was what got me to really read the books. Now I am getting ready to read Eclipse (3rd book) but I have been hesitating the start, I am a college student and I know that once I start the book that will be it, I won't be able to put it down, and that might afect my grades. He He. So there you have it, my Twilight experience!

thnks! i know exactly what you mean about giving the characters faces, i read the book first though. its funny edward looks exactly how i pictured him seriously. the only one that i thought was going to look like way different was alice, i thought she would be shorter and look like... a ballerina if you know what i mean lol. but the rest of the characters were as i expected. i cant wait to see new moon, there is a new director so maybe it willy be more like the book or at least portray it better.
well again thnks for reading.

I read the book a few years ago - so I honestly don't remember it extremely well, but I've seen half of the movie - and I have to say the book. For some reason, the books are almost ALWAYS better. The movies tend to change important details, leave out certain things, and personally, I love to IMAGINE the characters instead of see ugly actors play them! (This wasn't really the case with the characters in Twilight, but for example, I imagined the girls in Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants TOTALLY different than they were, which totally bugged me.) :/

I saw the movie first. I wanted to know what all the hype was about so I went in not knowing anything.
I loved the movie! So much so that I had to read the books. Now that I know the difference I think that with the time length of the movie they did a really good job of telling the story. BUT the book hints more and the imagination differs from each individual. I can't wait for the release of the DVD for the deleted scenes. I also can't wait for the release of New Moon!
The story line is increadable. Ultermate love. Edward suffers for his love. He wants to protect Bella from all danger including himself. Who wouldn't fall in love with him.
I think that because I saw the movie first I could imagine the charactures as they were in the movie, while my friend says she didn't picture them as they are in the movie. I loved them both!

I wanna say the twilight book. I read it and it's an amazing story, the arrangement and flow is quite far and different from the movie. I feel that they murdered the book when they made the movie. Some good events in the book was not seen in the movie. I also think that the twilight movie is not bad for an indi Film. It had good sales as well and for those who haven't read the book they thought the movie was nice but the book is way way better.

I liked the book way better than the movie. It was so detailed and I had this perfect picture in my head the entire time. I thought the acting in the movie wasn't the best. I also thought that in the movie, Edward and Bella seemed like they weren't as in love as I thought they were. I felt in the book that they were so in love and had this amazing relationship, but didn't see that in the movie.
I have read the book twice. I think it was even better the second time!!!

I think what makes the books so good is the relationships between characters and the depth of the bond between Edward and Bella. I think everything that made the books amazing was cut from the movie. Instead of showing Bella as a loving daughter it made her look like a bratty kid. The book was all about feeling like this world was possible because the characters seemed like normal people while the movie made the students out to be annoying Disney channel stars and emo kids. Part of why people love Bella so much is because we can relate to her in the book. In the movie she seems like she feels no emotion and does not care about anything. Instead of being awkward, as described in the book, she is made out to be detached which is hard to relate to. The acting on the part of most of the characters was so bad that it was hard to really get into the movie. I think the movie was ok but the screenwriting was almost funny and many of the important moments for emotional bonding to occur were cut form the movie. Most of the lines in the movie sounded like an adult trying to mimic what they think teenagers talk like instead of sounding like real teenagers are talking or the sentences sounded awkward and unnatural. Instead of a romantic first kiss, like in the book, it was turned into a underwear clad make out scene. Instead of a loving relationship, Edward and Bella seemed to hate each other and then suddenly be in love. In the book Edwards protective nature came across as romantic but in the movie he just seemed like a stalker. The technical aspects of the movie we also quite sad. The goofy fast forward running made Edward look like a cartoon character and makeup lines mid neck on the vampires is really inexcusable in a movie. I wish the movie had been more like the book because the books really are great but the movie doesn't reflect it.
