I hid my keys but I left the door open...

I'm currently at Boyfriend's so I am reminded of something that I did and did not do last Saturday.
Before going on a day trip, I decided to drink my morning coffee at Boyfriend's back porch/deck. The sun's out, I could feel its warmth, I could hear birds chirping, it was going to be a nice day. So I enjoyed that and went back in through the dining room sliding door. Before going up teh stairs to get ready, I decided to hide my set of keys inside Boyfriend's oven mitt so that no intruder could get to them and drive my car away as well as maybe get to my house. I was so proud of myself for being so careful.
We came back that night. The next morning, I decided to have my morning coffee at the same spot and found out I left the sliding door unlocked.
I will not share this story with Boyfriend. He already has found my keys on his front door twice in the last two months.
Have you ever been very careful with one thing that ended up in you neglecting another?

anne,am so glad nothing untoward happened, this reminds me of what i did some months ago.i had bought a computer for kids, since it is somewhat costly,i donot allow my kids to play with it always.once i hid the case of the computer, thinking that the actual computer was inside but in reality it was outside and i came to know about it when computer became out of order.

Has it really been a month since you responded, riyasam? I am so sorry for the late reply. Did you have to get a new computer then? Thanks again for responding.

I am sorry for the late reply, hopejordan.
I am happy to hear that it was just your phone that got stolen (although it is still not a good thing!)... I just think the feeling of being violated once a stranger has been in your house to do something bad... I am sorry that you have to go through that. Take care and thanks.

Keys in an oven mitt??? Where there no earmuffs available or somethin'?? I'm constantly forgetting one thing because of my attention to detail with something else! More times than not it's to do with my mobile phone. I'll leave it in a car while making sure I help with other people's groceries and stuff like that; I'll leave it at home after making sure I have everything else I need for my day..... You name it and the phone gets ignored. I wouldn't be surprised if it had an abandonment complex!

Is your phone showing signs of clingy-ness? Then it must probably have the abandonment complex. You are such a do-gooder. Helping out people with their groceries. Heheh.

Hi Anne,
Ohh....I experienced that also and like you, I didn't share it to my partner!
I forget to lock our kitchen door when we were visiting our relatives 4 hours drive from our house and for me, I was very careful in checking all the stuff before we left!
Good thing, he didn't noticed it. I was the one who found it when we got home!

Yes, same thing happened to me few months ago.. My little sister and i were left in the house as my mom was confined in the hospital for five consecutive days.. Being the eldest, i took charge of everything.. Before I left the house, i made sure to switch off all the lights and unplug all the appliances.. okay, i thought i did a careful inspection before i left. but when i was already in the bus, the house keys suddenly popped up in my mind.. yay! i can't go back to the house anymore because i've had to be in the office at exactly 9:00 AM. The incident bothered me the whole day. when i came back home, i was surprised that my sister was there waiting for me inside the house.. aww!! she got the keys without me knowing.. yay! goood thing!
