English is my mother tongue language. When I was at school I learned French for five years. I have been learning Spanish since September and am really enjoying it. I would like to carry on learning it when my course ends. I am very keen on traveling and know it will be useful when I do manage a trip to South America. I think that Italian or Romanian would be lovely languages that might be worthwhile for me to learn in the future.

I would like to learn Spanish. I took it in high school and don't remember much of it 37 years later but we get a lot of immigrants-legal and illegal-from Mexico and of course they don't know English. Many of them are making the effort and do quite well, while others make their own communities and don't want to learn English. In about 20 years, statistics show, English speakers will be in the minority--in my own country!! It's alarming to me that my native customs and language are going to be overrun. But Spanish is spoken in one form or another in many countries and I think it would be an advantage to know it.

I speak English and I know Latin but have never actually tried to speak it as it isn't done much today. I would really like to learn Italian and have taken a few lessons, but I don't have much time on my hands at the moment. After I master that one (which could take a while) I would like to try out French. I love learning new languages and I love to travel, so they kinda go hand in hand!

German is at the top of my list. I currently work for a German company in the US and I think I would have a better chance of advancement if I knew the language. The president and probably 20% of the employees here are German and I miss a lot of the conversations and I'm not picked first for the Germany trips. After that it would be Spanish and Chinese.
