Listening to the these professional legal advisers on this telly is just plain getting under my skin and making me itch. Their advice is to save for a rainy day or save and prepare for being laid off from your job. How are you suppose to save when everything you make is already owed out? You are already borrowing from Peter to pay Paul. I have bills that come out every week, I never made enough to save. Who are they talking to the rich and famous those are mostly the ones that have money to save.
And if that isn't enough all the utility bills and household expenses are going up every month.
Is anyone out there in MyLot land saving money?

Not me, I like spending it too much I used to save, when I was working. I had it taken directly out of my paycheck and put into the credit union. The first month or two that the money was gone it was somewhat disturbing but after that I just got used to seeing the shorter pay And the money was somewhere I could get to it in an emergency.

I like spending to but I never had much to spend especially on myself my children came first and that took most of it. I made it and I thank God for that, right now I am not suffering and I hope I never have too I hope my future will change for the better. I have no savings and the company I worked for went bankrupt and lost all the retirement money. My future is in God's hand.

Then I hope He takes very good care of you I was lucky with the retirement, too many people would come unglued if the retirement system had gone belly up, including all of the cops, the firemen, the judges and state workers in California. If Governor Arnold thought he had problems now, whatever would he do without all those people?
I worry about the fate of my adult children as they work their way to retirement age. Heck, I hope they can all just stay employed

I've saved all my life. I'd pay for the necessities, then save the rest. It wasn't much, and I had to sacrifice a LOT. When we got married, it was much better. I made sure we lived off the lower paying check and used the other check to get necessities. We were able to save more.
We never bought anything unless it was cash. It made it hard when a water heater or fridge gave out!!! That cut into the bank account a lot. But we managed. It sure helped us in the end. Especially since I just lost my job.

Just like you, I know I can save but with what? I have little money and am always on here trying to make a little change every month. Thanks to Mylot, I have made enough to buy one or two little extra items a month, but that's about it. I mean like a take out pizza or some ice cream. If it wasn't for the thrift store, I would be naked!

Hey chevee! I know exactly what you are saying. When I was
working I always needed the check that would be coming after
the one that I had just gotten. I was never able to put any
money away in all the years that I worked. I worked to pay
rent, electric, and all my other bills with nothing left ever!
I lived alone and took care of everything. I never was able
to save and was always in debt! Now that I am disabled I have
no savings, no pension and am still in debt!

Actually we're not after the savings anymore, just to make both ends meet is alright. Paying the bills on time, groceries until the next payday a little money for transpo, is a good life already for some (including us). Unexpected expenses that may arises, will be find ways later.

I know, I listen to these people also talking about saving. Don't they think everyone would save if they had the money to do so.
When i was working, it was impossible to save, and now that I am unemployed, it is highly unlikely. I do not even have enough money to pay my bills and buy food, let alone to try to save anything.
Honestly, after I pay what I can, there is nothing left. I have been getting food from food pantries, and my mother gives me food, there is not even enough money left to buy food. I would love to be able to save money, if I were able, I would not be in the situation I am in now.

Hey Chevee,
These Professional Financial Advisors make it sound so easy. Why shouldn't it be easy for "Them" they make all the money from the rich folk who need advise on what to do with all their money!! What a joke!! Instead of looking so pompous on TV, trying to make it sound so easy, why don't they save some of their big pay checks to give to those struggling to keep their Utilities from being shut off every month? People like us might feel shame standing in their shoes, even for a moment telling people like us to save money we don't have. Not them, it appears they have no shame. How can they if they have never walked in our shoes.
But to answer your question, we used to have a savings because hubby's Mother left him a little money when she passed away 2 years ago. Hubby lost his job almost 2 years ago. How long do you think it took to go through that savings? You don't want to know.
I turn the TV off when I hear these people talking. Hugssss

Saving money's been one of my long time dilemmas.. how can i save if monthly bills are coming out every week? how can i save if i need to buy medicines for my maintenance? how can i save if i don't have a stable job? arrgh!! my health condition's been making me suffer for years and i hate it.. i only depend on my online earnings in order to support myself.. hope God would grant me complete healing i've been wishing for so many years.. God is good, i'm claiming it!

Hi there. Honestly, no, I cannot. There's just so much I have to spend on and, considering my meager amount of salary, well, at the end of the day, there's barely anything left from my budget. *sigh* Of course, it's easy for financial advisers to tell us to save up and stuff but then again, they don't take into consideration that most Filipinos aren't even earning enough to get by to meet the basic necessities. I'm trying to find extra sources of income too, though.

Yeah I try to save every month. Times have become so unpredictable you just can't be sure how long we will be having our jobs. Its definitely not easy to save especially because even basic things have become so expensive. Its best to try and live debt free life otherwise the burden would increase in case you do lose your job. So its best to purchase things with cash rather than using credit card.I know its difficult but try minimal usage of Credit card.

It is hard, before I didn't save cos I didn't think I had to, now you cant save cos life is harder. However, I have learn my lesson and I do save a little. I made a separate saving account and after paying the bills I put a little bit there as well. And don't get me wrong, sometimes it may be as little as 20-30 $ in a month, but I make it a point putting something there. Right now I'm trying really hard to pay back debt, as I realize the high interest is taking money I could use doing so many other things. Cash is the word these days, and if you already have credit cards, pay it back starting with the one with the highest interest, even if it means you deprive yourself for a while. Meanwhile, in my experience, putting even 1$ in a saving account makes me feel more mental secure and it gives me the illusion I do have at least SOME control over my life.

Nope, not me. I make just about enough to with a lot of juggling, get by. It is very, very hard to save and even if I manage to save a little.....it isn't enough to save me in the event of a layoff and it certainly does not sit in my account for any length of time. I don't even have a savings account as it would be pointless. It is easy for people with money to preach this sort of advice.
