With the holidays coming up I am thinking of putting away alot of my sons toys. Thanks to my family he has an insane amount of toys. I mean I am talking about him having 3 rooms in our house full of toys! What do you do with your childs old toys and does yours have too many?

Our daughter is so spoiled. She doesn't have three rooms full but does have a playroom that is always cluttered. We got to get it organized before Christmas.

Are you going to donate her toys? I am planning on having more children so I do not want to get rid of them but for him to be able to get new toys we have to get rid of the old ones or get a storage unit!

We have a small house with 3 kids. I think its less than 800 sq. feet. And they have sooo many toys! I told my 7 year old today that I feel like a broken record. All I say is "clean up your toys" Its so bad that you cant walk through their rooms. So today I went through it and got out the stuff they dont play with anymore. I plan on giving them away. I found a great website www.freecycle.org. You post stuff you want to get rid of on there and you can also find stuff you would like to have. Its worth checking into. And its based on your county so you dont have to worry about someone wanting you to ship the stuff. Just meet them somewhere close by. I love it. We all have to do some cleaning before Christmas. They just get so much. God Bless!

My son has too many toys, and I know it will be even worse when we live NEAR our family! Right now it is manageable because with a little careful planning, they will all fit in his room. But what I do is every few months or so, go through them. ANything that you never see him play with, pack it up or get ride of. Anything that is wearing out, or just doesn't work like it should anymore, throw it out. Give some to Goodwill if they are not as appealing to them. Or if you don't want to give them away, store them to make room for more. Just remember that if you are keeping them, you should only keep the ones that will still be usable and current if you are saving them for another baby or yours or someone you know. But difinitely go through them!

I have three children and we do have an over abundance of toys for sure. We periodically go through and take out a bunch they don't play with often and donate them to our goodwill store. We also keep some in storage containers and rotate them around. We ask for non-toy items as gifts and really limit what we bring in at this point. We try to encourage imaginative play and put less emphasis on having more, more, more.
