Which Knight Rider do you prefer?

I always loved the idea of a car that could talk, and think. Sure would have saved me some scary driving!! But I never could get into the original Rider series. I didn't care for Hasselhoff, even though I adored Kitt. So I didn't really watch it. I figured this one would be similar, so I never bothered to watch it. Then it was the only thing on one night, and it wasn't too bad. I wouldn't give up The Mentalist for it, but it really wasn't as bad as I'd thought. I didn't shut it off and find an old book I'd already read at least. What are your thoughts?

Haven't seen the new show, did sometimes watch the original. I like the car - but not like the roomie, she'd like to have Kitt, it would grant her independence that blind people don't normally have.

She is so independent anyway, having a car that can drive itself would be complete freedom for her.

Yes, if one was blind, Kit would have all sorts of uses the rest of us wouldn't consider. It would be a major freedom thing, I suspect.

Loved the original KR. Hasselhoff was my first major crush when I was a kid. And I wished I had a car like KITT.

I didn't really like Hasselhoff, but I loved KITT too. That car was awesome!

I don't remember much about the original even though I watched it some which may say something about it in my mind. Anyway I like the new pretty much; it is not my favorite show but I like it. I think one reason I like it is Deanna Russo; there is just something about her eyes and her body isn't bad either. KITT is cool in both of the versions.

Same. I prefer the Mentalist, but I don't think I'll be able to get it in at all when the switch hits. Sigh. I gotta have one show to watch through the week...

I enjoy both the original Knight Rider and this current version. I know people have complained about this current version, too many characters, KITT's a Mustang and not a Trans Am, etc. etc. but I never had a problem with the changes that they made. I thought it still resembled what the original series was about and have enjoyed it a lot. The show just needs to find some direction to it. Right now I have no idea where the show is going. It really doesn't have any plot to it since they've trimmed down the cast. Unfortunately I doubt it will ever find it's direction because I don't think it will last past this season.

That's a shame. I did notice there didn't seem to be much direction. It was all on-the-scene let's do something. While I enjoy fly by your pants too, there should be a bit of direction as well.

I never got the chance to watch the original series, probably because I was too young to pay attention back then ... but I'm a fan of the current series ... it's fun and action packed

Maybe that was part of my problem too. Hasselhoff was a hottie, and I was at an age to dislike any part of a guy who had that "title." I really resented any hottie on tv at that time. Isn't it odd how age can play a part in some things?

I hadn't thought about that show in a long time. I used to watch it when I was young but like you,it was just for Kit..lol..I didn't know there was a remake. I'll have to check it out.

I don't usually go for remakes. But since I never really watched the original, this wouldn't count. I enjoy it. I like the characters, but I haven't really watched much yet. Only saw 2 shows so far.

I loved the original one. I was a little kid and had a very bad childhood and wished that I had KIT so he could drive for me and take me away from my home.

That was my favorite childhood series. I liked Hasselhoff and I loved the car. I even took a picture of myself in the KITT on some exhibition. I've seen the first two episodes of the new Knight Rider and it's not that bad but not good enough for me to follow. Original one is so much better.

I loved that car too. Wasn't it awesome?! I only catch Knight Rider on the odd night. Our tv doesn't get a picture all the time. So it's catch something on the right night. No rhyme or reason. The only ones I've seen of this show are the bank robbery, and this week. He's helping out an army buddy whose friend, Sarge, got killed. It's about a fighting ring. I rather liked those two, even though you could tell the bank robbery snitched an idea from The Dark Knight. I prefered the voice actor on the first one though. I liked that voice, it gave such an attitude to the car!! Kerrigan Mahan, I think.

I agree with you about Kit, the original car in the old series. It was soooo cool! :) Hasselhoff was ok and the show was pretty good. I'd watch it if there was nothing better on and, don't get me wrong, I'd enjoy it. But, there were also so many other shows on TV that I enjoyed more at the time. I've only watched the new Knight Rider once and I wasn't too impressed. Maybe I'll give it one more shot... if there's nothing better on. ;)

That's a lot of my problem. Our channels come and go, usually going. So it's whatever channels come in we watch. And he usually watches Nature on PBS. Sigh. I'm not that thrilled with learning...

I don't know why I never got into Hasselhoff, but I don't hate him. I just didn't like his acting.
