I have two dogs (well, puppies--7 months and 5 months), but I have never brushed either dogs' teeth. They don't have bad breath, though (at least not yet). When they develop a problem, though, I'll probably use the dental biscuits instead of actually brushing their teeth.

I've used a baking soda and water mix to make a type of toothpaste for my dogs. However, they both really hated getting their teeth brushed so I probably didn't brush their teeth as often as I should have. It probably would be worth looking into toothpaste specially formatted for dogs...something that comes in a flavor they like yet won't make them bite the toothbrush or your fingers!

i usually dont brush my dogs teeth most of the time they get teeth cleaning biscuits too but i have brushed my dogs teeth before. usually they give you something for your dog when you leave the vet i go to and once they gave us some bacon toothpaste. i used it a couple times but in my experience my dogs didn't really like it, so i just stick to the treats.

We have 2 dogs. Our elderly dog, Asia, (dobie mix) allows it, so we brush 2-3 times a week. Our younger girl, Mattie (rat terrier) just doesn't permit it, so she gets chewies. We use Petrodex Enzymatic Toothpaste (for dogs). I'm not sure where my BF picks it up though

I brush my Boxer's teeth with peanut butter flavored doggie toothpaste, but my Chesapeake doesn't like it .. but he likes to chew, so I buy those rope toys that have the knots in them .. they act as floss and keep his teeth pretty clean and lets his frustrations out! :)
