Acting on Impulse

When a man you've never met before suddenly gives you flowers... he's acting on Impulse! Ok so my fellow UK mylotters will remember this as an advert for a body spray called Impulse which is still very popular amongst women. If a man I'd never met before suddenly gave me flowers I would think that he had either lost the plot or had mistaken me for someone else for sure!!
Has anyone ever come up to you that you have never met before and suddenly given you flowers? Have you ever run up to someone you have never met before and given them flowers? Have you every just given someone your number or has someone given you theirs and you barely know them?

No. But I've often wanted to give people flowers. I have given flowers to people many times, but not usually for romantic reasons. Are you alright down there? Just saw the news and it look pretty bleak. Our place in Devon is snowed in and no cars can get near.

How do p1kef1sh!
It's always nice to give someone flowers no matter what the reason eh?
Things are good down here thanks. Schools were closed today but that was only because the teachers couldn't get in from where they lived. The kids were off on Tuesday too but we've not really been hit badly at all where we live!
Hope all is well with you and yours at your end!!
Cheers p1kef1sh

Hi humbug, somtimes taking a fancy of someone is rather spontaneous. You are somewhere and your eyes fall on someone without knowing. I am a rather impulsive person and if I was not married most probably would act that way. However since I got attached I ' have learned to control my impulsivity cos it can lead me into trouble with my miss

The way you said that kind of made me think of the song "Your Beautiful" by James Blunt. LOL
Just had to let you know.

Now...I would think it rather strange to have someone giving me flowers out of the blue like that! Even in my younger days, pre-marriage, I think it would have creeped me out a bit. Even if he was really handsome and seemed nice, I would be suspicious. Is this a joke? Are you weird? I don't even know you! It seems a bit presumptuous and a little to aggressive for me. If I at least recognized him then maybe I wouldn't feel quite as creeped out, but even still.....
I did give out my number once to someone I had just met. Shhhh...... don't tell anyone. I was young and dumb and slightly inebriated. He never called, Thank goodness. By the light of day, I was really having regrets about that!
When I met my husband, he asked for my number and I gave him my work number only. And when he called to ask me out, I agreed to meet him at the movies rather than tell him where I lived. I didn't know him from Adam! He could have been an axe murderer for all I knew!

Well hello there rocketj1
Well maybe when you gave that guy your number when you were huh erm, slightly inebriated, then you actually wrote down the wrong number LOL . Years ago this might well have been a very romantic gesture but these days a guy would be sent off with a flea in his ear for sure!!
Thanks rocket

I think I'd be more than a little creeped out if some stranger suddenly came up and gave me flowers. It's just something that close friends, my Hubby or my family would do...not a total stranger. I never give my number out and if someone gave me theirs...I'd either give it back to them or toss it. I'm happily married and intend to stay that way.

Hi ya twoey68
It does look very romantic and harmless on screen but in reality it can be a totally different thing. I am glad to hear you are happily married, I don't think many people can say that these days.
Take care of yourself and the ones you love twoey
Thanks for your response

Nah. Things like that don't happen to me! I think I would probably faint if it did!
Would be quite amusing though to just run up to a randomn stranger, hand them a bunch of flowers and run off! Would love to see their face

I work in the public and I've had that happen a few times. Also I get customers that will buy a lottery ticket and then toss it to me or a chocolate....not really sure why. As for handing out my phone #....NO!! That would just be inviting trouble.

Nope, sadly, no one's ever given me flowers on impulse! Too bad! That would have made my day. But it won't matter so much if I received flowers from a stranger. I think I would appreciate the gesture more if I was in a bad mood or if I got the flowers from somebody that I like. :) Heehee. Anyway, just to answer your question, I've never done this either.

Hi there mimico
A customer once gave me a bunch of flowers when I worked as a receptionist because he said that was I was always happy and was always very polite to him. He was married and so was I but it wasn't about that at all. Of course I couldn't take them home because my husband at the time would have flipped but they looked very nice on the reception desk and everyone got to appreciate them too. Never any phone numbers though!
Thanks for your response

I'd never had that happen to me. If that did happen, I'd think the poor fellow was either drunk or mistaken me for someone else. I'd never given flowers or my number to complete strangers either. I'm kind of shy when it comes to matters like this. Shopping impulses on the other hand... LOL

I'm more of a planer type person and a causes person I rarely act on impulse, but you asked if I ever gave my number to someone that Iv never met, or if someone ever gave me there number, yes, in fact just the other day someone asked for my phone number and of course I dont give my number out to total strangers, but they offered to give me there number instead, and I didnt want to be rude so I took it, but ordinarily I dont do things like give my phone number or approach total strangers out of the blue.

Hi Humbug,
Nope can't say that's ever happened to me, mind you it was a good advert and had me believing for a while that it may ..lol and no I never just give my phone number out to just anyone. When I was younger I always use to change the last couple of didgits in my phone number if I was out clubbing and a man asked for it to save me the bother of refusing but now I've grown up I don't even get asked.

Hello humbug25! Well, so far so good, I never tried to be given flowers by strangers. I am glad because it would only cause troubles.
Regarding the number thing, I would never give my phone number to someone whom I don't know even if they are asking for it and yes, someone gave me his number and I just receive it but I never tried to contact him, I just threw the number away.
