Well it is Saturday morning here in Melbourne Australia, it is going to be very hot today so I planned to do nothing but watche TV and be on my computer, so I turn the TV on and nothing but kids shows, do the TV stations think that only kids watch TV on saturday mornings then I guess this afternoon it will be all sport, why do TV stations not have variety, I don't have kids and I hate sport, I think it would be better if maybe only one station had kids stuff one sport then others with other things...one should not have to get paid TV to get the variety of shows...is this just a Melbourne thing or is weekend TV the same everywhere.

it is the same thing here in the philippines. saturdays and sundays mornings are mostly kids show. and so i don't like watching during that time. even on the weekdays of every morning there are lots of kids show but not the whole morning. only about an hour a day of cartoons on weekdays. so that is why i have hated weekend mornings since i was a teen cause i could not find back then any show suitable for me. i hate kids show. i wonder if kids really love those kids show being shown here.

Same problem here Lilac I had to wait till the afternoon for a movie ...Why do they show all those ridiculous old movies? Today was The Long Ships with Richard Widmark...speaking Americanisms and a Moorish prince with a Cambridge accent when the movie is set in the same era as Jason and the Argonauts. Why do they have to put crappy movies on...why not the old Search for the Golden Fleece and Sinbad the Sailor or other golden oldies maybe like Breakfast at Tiffany's. Why is it always bad movies like Elvis etc. Some kids shows are really good but the stuff I watched today was boring.

Even if there might be interesting shows to watch, my television set has been jeopardized by my son who is watching cartoons on boomerang. anway today he will be granted to watch television as much as he likes since he is sick and does not have the energy to do anything else.

We have the same problem here. We mainly see kids shows at that time of day on most days of the week. It is even worse on Saturdays. They have alot more.

From as far back as I can remember lilaclady, Saturday morning television has been "reserved" for children's pograma and the afternons for Sports or maybe old old movies. In fact for many years Hey Hey It's Saturday used to be on of a Saturdat morning but it was getting a bit risque and so was moved to the Saturday evening time slot. It is possibly a hang over from the early days of television here when it was only shown for so many hours a day. In the early days, television was competing with the radio and they had children's programs and contests on a Saturday morning, so it has just stuck in that format forever. As a rule we do not watch television on a Saturday morning but at the same time, I do appreciate that there are programs for the children at that time. It can keep our grandchildren occupied and amused and right now today in this awful heat, sitting them down in front of the television with the air conditioner going is about the best thing we can do. However, aside from that for those who dio nt have children or enjoy sports then it would be a good idea to have some alternative programs available on at least one channel.

It is Early morning here in Sweden to, and I find it be verry strange, we have tv 24/7, different moviechanels. Nothing for kids. They are supose to sleep in this hour. Ok, I woke up this hour of the day, could not go back to sleep and for me it is to early to go up I should really slepp. And try to sleep sicne I am free of from work, and my son has his weekend of. But I went to sleep early last night, so I guess, the body have got enought of sleep. But I am going to make another go...and try to sleep again.

Hey lila! You have brought up such an excellent point! And I will tell you that you are not alone! It is the same thing here in the USA! On Saturday mornings it is cartoons and then it is college sports, not even "real" sports in the afternoon! There is nothing to watch but sports after the cartoons are off and I get alot of stations! Well there are some all news stations! But, if you are looking for entertainment, there is virtually nothing! And I have to pay alot of money for my tv service!

hello lilaclady it sounds like we have about the same television programing here in the United States as you do where that you live. and both of my boys enjoy watching Saturday morning cartoons. i know one thing, the cartoons that come on not only on Saturday mornings, but also on all of the time on certain television stations like CartoonNetwork, sure aren't what i watched when i was growing up as a kid watching Saturday morning cartoons. i watched cartoons like Bugs Bunny and The Road Runner, Underdog and Speed Racer. lol take care and have a beautiful evening.

You are preaching to the choir here. Like you I am not a sports fan. I always hated it when the regular programs that I liked to watch got preempted by some ball game. And how come a game that has four quarters each fifteen minutes long takes four hours to play?

Hello my friend lilaclady Ji, Well, we do not face such thing in my part of globe. There are varities of programme as per the wish of any viewer. There are channels only for children and repeated tele-cast available of many episodes round the clock, in case some body has ever missed the. There are channels, where only movies would be available. I think, you have to migrate to India. may god bless you and have great time.
