Teachers Who Share A Little Too Much

I've noticed that since I've been in college, the teachers share more information about their personal lives. A little too much if you ask me. I know that we're supposed to be older and more mature and maybe that's why they do it, but I feel like there are just some things that we don't need to know. I've heard about their affairs, their personal hygiene problems, and a lot worse. Don't you feel like there's some stuff that you should keep to yourself?

I have never run into a teacher who excesively shares their personal affairs with us. Sure, teachers have said things about their personal lives in the beginning of class or in lectures to make some kind of point. I think it helps students see the teacher as an actual human being, not just a robot that is supposed to teach you.
That said, I do have one English teacher who comes into class everyday asking for a ride home, because his car broke down. I find that a bit odd, and not something a teacher should ask of their students.

They should keep a lot of thing to themselves, but who really cares. There are just days where people need to vent.

That is very bad of them to share so much of their personal affairs with students, or even worse, with pupils. They seem to use it as a channel to relieve themselves.
In our culture, teachers observe traditional principle to separate teaching or learning with personal affairs. And the educational administration should issue guidance to lead the teachers in the right balance.
Nevertheless, between teachers and students, in rare cases where they have come to a special friendly status, it is ok for them to share something personal. That kind of exception is acceptable in a society of freedom.

I guess it depends on which contry u live in and which teacher u are talking about. In my country (Singapore) it's more of the elementary school teachers who tell the kids more things like stuff about their personal life. this is because as the students grow older, they lose the interests to know about the other people around them as they concentrate more about themselves and their personal friends. So in college and university, the lecturers or tutors just breeze in and out of the room with their academic knowledge and no one bothers them.
