A day to get ready for a night out, are you kidding?

Nope I am not kidding, hubby and I were invited to a party and it is tonight. It is the first social occasion that I have been invited to in ages and so I am quite excited and I want to look my best. Of course I have to get ready, and today I have to dye my hair and then put some extensions in it, dry it, straighten it etc etc, have a bath and do my nails. That is pretty much going to take me ALL day!! For a night out how long do you spend on getting yourself ready, is it an all day job, a couple of hours or ten minutes and you are ready?

It all depends for me. If I've been keeping up with myself, then it doesn't normally take too long, but most of the time I don't keep up with my looks. I'd have to do some tweezing, plucking, shaving, etc. I'd probably have to do my nails. I really should consider dying my hair again as my dark roots are growing out like crazy. Other than dying, there's not much else I'd do with my hair, I'd love to perm it though, I've always liked my hair better permed, but I can't perm it and dye it at the same time. It would probably end up taking me a few hours, oh but what to wear!!!

Oh god I have to pluck my eyebrows!! I cannot do much with my hair apart from dying it, although a new friend I have made recently has offered to do my hair for me and give me a new style so that would be great! Luckily I worked out what I was going to wear a couple of weeks ago so that is all hanging up ready to go, just the hair and the face left really and THAT will take some work! Going try and take some photos tonight so if I get some good ones will put em on facebook, no doubt all my facebook friends will put em on too cos most of them will be there!

I hate plucking my eyebrows, they're horrible. I keep telling myself I'm going to splurge for a waxing, but I never do. I suppose if I had something important coming up I would just splurge for the wax. It's hard to tweeze with glasses on anyways, and I can't see well enough to tweeze without them. That's another thing I'd have to finally order my contacts, which I keep putting off because I can't see spending the $40 on it. Anyways, hope you have fun tonight, and I can't wait to see the pics!

hello gemini_rose well sounds like that you do have a busy afternoon ahead of you. sounds like fun thou. if i lived near ya, i could come over and let you use my fingernail pattern kit that i have for my nails. one of my girlfriends used the kit a couple of years ago on both her fingernails and on her toenails, she decided to do the french manicure on her nails and toes. they turned out looking really nice. and good luck to you on your hair today. i haven't ever tried to color my own hair like that at home before. i go once about every three or four months to get my hair fixed. and i hope that you-all have fun tonight when you go out. and i know how excited that you have been awaiting for tonight to finally get here. take care and enjoy yourself tonight!

Depends on what type of party it is, I usually do my own hair, nails and then I'm ready for the night - at most two hours. If it's something more formal and dressy, then I get my hair styled at the salon (1 hr), and then a manicure/pedicure (1 hr) that afternoon and thats it. Besides the bath and all then I'm good to go. I usually work out what I'm going to wear before getting myself all done up.

i usually just need few hours before to get ready for a night out. i don't waste too much time thinking and preparing for it. its just too pointless. llol i guess i just want to look naturally good. i don't really want to exaggerate on stuff with my hair, make up, dress, etc. i firmly believe simplicity is beauty. but this does not also mean that it's wrong to be well prepared for a party. i guess it just depends on the person! :)

I don't go out a whole lot myself so when I do it is an all day job for me. I pamper myself and really make it something special. I will have a long hot bubble bath and relax and read a book and sometimes fall asleep for a power nap, around 15 minutes. And then I am good to go for the evening, don't get too sleepy if we are out late. I also have to blow dry my hair and then straighten it. That takes me about an hour of my time. And then I have to put my make up on and again another hour because I don't see well close up so it takes me awhile to do my eyes, even with a lighted make up mirror. Then I end up trying on about 5 different outfits before I settle on one. So it takes me all day to get ready, just like you. hehe Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris

I would say that it takes me about 20 minutes including showering and shaving Gemini. The Boss will say that I take about an hour. I really must teach her to tell the time! LOL. Have a lovely time tonight, dance like crazy and let your hair down. Tell us all about it tomorrow too please.

Sounds like so much fun.. We go out to dinner quite a bit but really don't go to any fancy parties.. I usually take about an hour to get ready unless my hair is a mess, then it takes longer for me to do my hair.. Normally an hour or two is the most that I spend on getting ready.. Have fun and let us know how it went..

It is a surprise birthday party so it should be a lot of fun! The only reason it is taking me so long today is because I have had to dye my hair and then I want to put some extensions in, I have just finished dying it and now I have to go and dry it then fiddle about with the extensions!

It just takes as long as it takes. Last time it took me three days. I had to shop for just the right outfit. Got majorly burnt out the first time out so had to make it another day. It is rough being beautiful! Takes some work. But, it is fun and worth it in the long run. I could do it in ten minutes if I was organized and had all my stuff ready ahead of time.

By the time you receive this then the event will have passed. I do hope that you both had a wonderful time. when my husband and I went out I would start from the night before by washing my hair and working out what to wear. What to wear would literally have me worrying so much as I would wonder what the other women were wearing. Once that was decided then I would try to decide on jewellery and shoes. On the day itself, it would only take me an hour as my hair is straight and there was not much that I could do with it. No hairdresser in many miles close. I usually botched my nails as I would forget and pick up a child or something. We both loved going out and had so much fun together. I hope that you did too. Blessings

I don't usually take all day, but I do allow extra time to work on my hair. Even if I have rollers in my hair all day, when it comes to styling it, it never comes out right. sometimes I want to wear my hair down, but my hair has a mind of it's own, and I usually end up wearing it up. My hair takes the longest when I am getting ready to go somewhere. I usually have my clothes out, and after the shower, the makeup does not take that long, since I do not wear a lot of makeup. I know you are going to look great, and have a good time.
