At home dads

Growing up my father was an at home dad. He was in medical school so was home alot. It was nice at times but other times it was a bit odd. Most of my friends parents that stayed home were mothers. What is everyones opinion about at home fathers? Does it change the way the children turn out? I think its great if a parent can stay home at all. These days it seems much harder for any parent to stay home and not work.
