Are you a late arrival or an early bird ?

When you go to an event, a party, an appointment, meet up with friends or where ever you have to be, do you find yourself being late or early most often?
Do you plan to be late or just end up late?
or if your always early, how much preparation goes into making sure your on time?
I'm never late or at least very rarely, I'm just naturally very punctual and bang on time, so I hate people who are always late, I have a friend that is constantly late for everything, I'm sure she does it purposely. I once refused to meet her and she obviously asked why so I told her truthfully, it drove me mad how she kept me waiting for upto a hour sometimes and since that day she has never been late again for one of our meet ups.
So how about you ?

Well, you have never been to a Chinese wedding traditional banquet in Singapore. It's really bad. The invitation will state 7pm for cocktail, 7.30pm for dinner. If you reach at 7.30pm you will find yourself the only guest in the ballroom. The bride will only reach outside of the ballroom to greet guests in her lovely wedding gown at about 8.15 to 8.30pm and the earliest any banquet starts will be at 8.45pm because the guests are all like an hour late. It's horrid. After 2 times of arriving like an idiot so early, you never want to be early again because you sit there waiting for the WHOLE ballroom to be filled. Then it is the long dragged out 9-course dinner with people asking you when you are going to be married (i'm single, and not a boyfriend in sight) and answering surface questions like "how's your work". It's a horrible experience.

hey, maybe it's just Singapore. I checked with my friends from China, they said that theirs are normally done in the afternoon for lunch. They were so hungry the first time they came for ours that the second time they went for one, they ate before going.

Hi there scorpio19
I am very much like you too. My kids are never late for school either. We have never had to go through the reception doors in order to get my kids into their classroom. I too have a friend who says she will be around at a certain time and only if it is in her interest to be at my house on time she will be (like to use my pc) if not then she will just arrive in her own time. She doesn't seem to think it is a big deal and I guess she also thinks that it is only me and I won't mind! I am never usually late for anything and neither will my kids ever be!

Hi Humbug,
You sound just like my ideal friend..lol...my kids have never been late either I'd rather keep them off from school than suffer the shame of going through the reception entrance LOL...I am kidding but they have never been late.

During High School, I was never late. My father is, until now, an early bird so he used to wake me up early also.I was always the first one to arrive or at least not the last one. I hated late-comers, and I was mad at my friends for being late, and I was impatient for those who will not arrive on time. But things changed during college, I started to arrive late. I even experienced being late for an hour during our lecture. i know it's not a bad habit, and I am trying to change that kind of attitude.

I always do my best to be on-time or early to anything. I do not like to be late because then I miss out on a lot. The earlier I get to a place the better.

I am naturally punctual as well and I am always in a hurry to get somewhere for some reason. This is why I am early most of the time if not right on time. I always miscalculate how long it will take me to get somewhere, either I end up going really early or late.
I also hate people who are late even though I am late sometimes as well. I just find it very rude especially when you have an appointment or something. With friends, I do not worry as much because it is just a casual meeting. I could understand if the bus was late or there was a lot of traffic because of an accident or something, but not if it was on purpose.
I am glad your friends stopped being late. It was good you told her and good of her to listen.

Hi snam23,
I can honestly understand that you miscaluculate how much time you have that to me sounds honest.
My friend and I, have been friends for many years so she really didn't take offence she was quite surprised it bothered me, I honestly don't think it had entered her head it was rude...lol...but it's done the trick I don't think she would dare to be late now so I've cured her..lol

i was, i am, and will probably always be a late arrival! haha. i hate it when i get to the place really early, especially when i'm alone. i don't want to waste my time waiting for everyone else to come. i know, it sounds so selfish :D well, im really trying to change it but its really hard. i know sooner when i get to be professional, time will always be valuable so i have to get rid of this bad habit of mine.

Hi nicecedron,
Now I can understand you not wanting to be first in the circumstance you have mentioned but good that you are trying to put it right for especially like you say it won't look good on yourself if you are in a professional job.

Heyya scorpio! I'm usually early but only by about 5 minutes. I think that falls into the catagory off just in time. I like for things to get started on time, whatever it is,so I'm not happy when people involved are late. I do understand that things come up and I'm ok with that but not for someone that is late all the time.

I am the extremes kind of person so it's either I am really really early or really really late and kinda nothing in between. I hate being late as I have always been taught by my dad to be very professional at all times. Back in college even if my class is still at 7:45am, I am already at school by 7:20am. Now that I am already working and on my first job, I am already at the office by 7:45am even though my work starts at 8:30am. That's how disciplined I am. But yeah, I also experience bad days so I experience coming in late too.

Hi jokkarosel,
I think occasional lateness can be forgiven it's when folk do it constantly that I find it intolerable.

hello scorpio
when i know that i am going to go out somewhere like that, i always make sure that i am on time, i am never late and if i am late in arriving somewhere, then it is usually not my fault at all. lol but why have a get together or an event and have people show up late like that for. you know? everybody knows what time that the event is going to be and i really do not see any reason for being late unless one had to work or something like that and had no choice to show up late. or maybe somebody could have had some vehicle problems or something like that, that would cause them to be late in arriving somewhere on time. or sickness in the family and so on. i guess that their could be all different kinds of reasons for being late to an event.
take care and have a beautiful evening.

Hi TnWoman,
Yes there are times when we can all be late and there is a very good reason for being so but don't you find some people make it a habit and then get hurt when you refuse to meet them, never thinking for one minute their own behaviour as caused you to refuse..lol

I always try to be punctural cause i don't want to wait for others or have others wait for me. however, because of the traffic, sometimes i am a few minutes early or late. i think just off by a few minute is acceptable, right?

Hi chameleon7,
No I don't think it matters to much a few minutes either way, it's when folk arrive upto an hour late or more that is just rude.
