I think schools are getting way to scary. What do you think about all that's going on?

My question is why are the kids so angry?? To me, they are being fed this. It was a coup when we banned God (or at least the Christian God) from education, along with the ongoing disintegration of the family. All this, in my opinion, does not bode well for the future.

I agree with you. I think removing God from the public schools has made a big inpact on how kids are acting. I do think that some of it is becaues of tv influence too. Kids see what's going on in the news and I think it evokes something sometimes.

I think that all the media attention on it is making it worse. Of course, we need to know about it when it happens, and I would hate for them to not talk about it, but look at all the publicity these school shootings get! Any psycho with a television or radio within a mile of him might think shooting up a bunch of schoolchildren is a pretty damn good idea. I have small children, who are not old enough to go to school, but I'm terrified of sending them. At the same time, I know that I cannot shelter them and keep them safe forever. I'm just glad I'm not in school anymore. The worst thing I ever saw in high school was some kid who had OD'ed on something getting rushed out on a gurney.

I agree that media attention does make it more prevalent in today's society, but I don't completely endorse the idea that it encourages more people to do the same.
I believe that if someone is intent on doing something horrible like that, they are likely going to carry it out. The television coverage may not help, but it isn't the deciding factor. If I am playing a violent video game, and then I go reenact that game in a shopping mall, it honestly wasn't the games complete fault. I would say that there were some serious pshycological and social problems lurking in the background that were the root cause.
I also think that we should have very very strict punishments for those who even attempt violent acts against schools or other public places, even though most offenders in this line of crime don't want to live past their victims to face justice.
A point for sure! Thanks!

It is a worsening situation for sure.
I do find it interesting that the more our society and governement try to stop the practice of prayer and observance of religions in school, as well as the pledge of allegiance, the more we seem to see violence, radicalism, and intolerance flooding into our school systems.
There is no way in my mind to not see what is happening. It is sad to sit back and watch as noone seems to care enough to make a change.
