What did I missed??

It's been quit some time now that I stopped playing tsims2 I have achieved the full potential of my sims. Got bored I guess coz I have tried it all and it was fun at first then if you have tried it all you want another version of it. Now looking forward to play sims 3. What did I missed? Is sims 3 out in the market already.
