A man called 911 when Burger king ran out of lemonade. He's being charged with abusing the 911 system. What an idiot. Is not having lemonade really an emergency? What is in peoples heads these days?

He isn't the brightest bulb. At least he pled guilty and saved the state the expense of a trial.

Wow! The article say the man is in his sixties, so perhaps he suffers from dementia?

It's obvious that he's missing a few brain cells. Come on, Restaurants do run out of things once in a while. Granted it's unusual for a big chain to run out. They must be having supply problems. Or horrid management.

That idea shows that he was born with just a few gray cells, to begin with. I would fine him for pretending to use the city`s emergency service for such a thing.

"What is in people's heads these days?"
Well, obviously it's lemonade, and this guy needed a top-up.

Thanks for the BR. It's unfortunate, but there seems to be no lack of these such stories.

I think he's suffering from some sort of mental problems. It's not normal to call 911 over lemonade.

It seems that some dumb people think that they own the system and can use it for anything. I`m glad he will be fined for it. And I wish there was some kind of penalty worse than a fine. If emergency does to check his demand, a real emergency could be left unattended.

The fine will teach him a lesson. People hate to be fined especially when they think they are in the right.

I do not blame the Police for this one, as this is Stupid. I have known people over the yrs to call the Cops on something and most of the time it was them causing the ruccuss and it makes you wonder. Many times I do feel they should have to pay as it takes the Cops away from a real life threatening emergency possibly as well.

Me either. I'm a law and order type. I believe people need to do the right thing. Or at least try to do the right thing.
Tying up police time on a silly thing such as no lemonade is not only stupid, but puts other lives in danger by tying up the police and 911/ 100 or whatever your local emergency number is, on non emergencies.

What a waste of their valuable services and time? Trouble is this is not an isolated incident, this goes on a lot! There could be someone desperately in need of 911 and there's not the help they need because someone has called them on a fools errand. The stupidity of this person? I hope he was fined or punished or both. I wonder what goes on in people's head. If I went into a restaurant and they had run out of something I would automatically without quibble order something else! No big deal.

You are a normal person. Normal people accept that they can't always get what they want.

I read about that too. People really need to get a clue and not call 911 because they don't get what they want.

There was another story where a woman called 911 because McDonald's did not have chicken nuggets. Evidently, she ordered a 10 piece chicken nugget and paid for them. Then they told her that they were sorry they did not have anymore chicken nuggets, and she could order something else, they were not going to refund her money. She got irate, and called 911, she was charged with using 911 for a non emergency.
I do not understand what she thought 911 could do for her.
And I was surprised that they would not refund her money, since they did not have what she ordered.

They should have refunded her order, but it's not a 911 emergency. She could have dealt with higher management, not the 16 year old shift leader, and they would have tried to make her happy.

Wow amazing that this sort of stuff is still to date happening. I see you posted this 3 years ago and not that long ago a woman here in the US wanted her husband to go shopping with her and because he did not want to miss his TV game he refused. So she immediately picked up the telephone and called 911 and screamed that she was being raped.
Of course it was a fake and she was charged with abusing the 911 service. Shows that people today still feel somethings like lemonade, and or shopping are emergencies. *sad*
I loved Barbara's response and she is right he needed more lemonade. Silly man. lol

It happens almost every day. It just doesn't make the news. I understand mentally ill people misusing 911, but so called normal people who do it have an over blown sense of self entitlement.

It actually happens a lot. People feel entitled to everything. When they can't get their wishes they act like babies.

Gee - what's worse? This 911 situation, or the guy who called 911 because Subway's did not make his sandwich the way he asked. He got arrested for abusing the 911 system also. There was also this guy who robbed a bank & forgot his driver's license from when he cashed a check. Then there was a rapper who wrote & did a rap song about his shooting someone & actually mentioned the victim by name in that rap song.

There are a lot of stupid or crazy criminals out there. Maybe we should just lock them up so we don't have to deal with them. Put the rapper in jail and the others in the funny farm. Obviously non can function in society.

OMG! I am hysterical with laughter. Well, maybe he thought having no lemonade is an emergency situation. LOL!! Well, what is emergency for one need not necessarily be an emergency for another. Now, if the Internet is down, I would certainly consider it an emergency, but not so my stupid ISP.
Cheers and happy Mylotting

Maybe he was getting some pot from the milkman in the UK. I posted a story about a milkman who was delivering a bit of bud along with his dairy products.
