Is the Ouija board safe?

I would love to hear anyone's option on how safe the Ouija board is. I haven't used one before but I have been in a room where people were using it and were contacting evil spirits for a laugh and mad things were happening. I didn't know the people well so I wasn't sure if it was a fake or what was happening. I'm too scared to use one myself as I've heard bad things about it. I would love to hear anyone's stories about what happened when they used a Ouija board. Thanks:)

No, don't use them. They are very dangerous. I speak from personal experience, and I have researched this topic in depth. Many well-documented cases of demonic possession have had their origins in messing with a ouiji board. They are not toys, and not for entertainment. This is a great subject to bring up; hopefully, intelligent people who read this will say away from them.

Any time you attempt to contact spirits, it is dangerous. The way you do it is not important. ouiji boards, automatic writing, meditation, or a seance; they are all very dangerous. It's almost like giving an open invitation to any entity or spirit. Evil is constantly trying to gain access to us, it's not good to make it easy for them

Your right we should stay away from them. I have contacted spirits with a chain and ring a few times but not sure if it was spirits or myself moving it. Do you think that is dangerous?

I think it depends on the intentions of the user. My sister's best friend in school had one and she tried to get rid of it numerous times and it kept coming back to her. She would put it in a trash bag to go out with the trash and a few days later it would be in her back yard. She broke it in half once and put it in the trash, the next morning itwas on her bed in one piece. My mom had similar things happen to her when she was a teenager. The only way they got rid of them was to burn them. I personally never used one but I did witness the one being broken and it's reappearance. Pretty creepy if you ask me. I love supernatural things and stories but they scare me just a little.

Things are 'safe' when you understand how they work and act accordingly - this is true of your toaster, your car and if you like... a Ouija board.
If you understand and control the situation, it is safe - if the control is external then you are taking a risk. My guess is that you don't know how it works in which case I would say (just the same as if it were a power tool..) don't use it until you understand it. If you begin to understand what is happening and you are 'comfortable' with it then go ahead - otherwise you could cause yourself unnecessary trauma...

I agree with that. My friend said there are certain things you need to do with preparing before and after. You have to say a pray or blessing, I wouldn't know what to do so its best left to people who know what they are doing.

As a Yogi, and Spiritualist for 30 years I have some knowledge of the Ouija Board. Its normal to be interested in the Spiritual, and quite safe if you know what your doing. Best to play in a group, when at least one member is knowledgeable about the Spirit world. The uninitiated can encounter distractions to their physical from the Spirit world. Always play it safely, by never putting your trust in the information attained through the Ouija board. Some of the entity's encountered, love to play games on unsuspecting physical beings.

Thanks for your advice! I don't think I'll be trying it. When I witnessed it all those years ago a spirit gave me a message which upset me so I hope it was an entity playing games and not the truth:

I am so curious about this occult tool although I have never actually used an ouija board. The last time I heard about something like this was when I watched the film 'The Exorcist'. That was a great movie but it really got me thinking about the ouija board. The girl in that movie became possessed as a result of her using this board. I too am quite fearful about using an ouija board. I guess you kind of feel safer when you are with a group of people but I guess this is one area that I will just not venture down. There is so much stuff on the net that you can find out about the common ouija board. Welcome to My Lot by the way. Andrew

Thanks Andrew! Yeah The Exorcist scared me too. I'm curious too but I prefer to hear stories about it than try it out myself:)

I used it a lot in college. It said some really horrible and scary things. I'm not sure how it could be caused by unconsious muscle movements. If more than one person is doing it at the same time, how could they push it toward the same letters? And manage to spell out words?
I don't use them anymore.

Yeah your right, how could a few people all know what letter to go to and spell out. Maybe its best not to use it and take a risk of anything bad happening. Must of been a scary experience you had.

No, the board has no power true. What is dangerous is the fact you are opening your mind to allow demons or dark spirits to mess with your mind. Whether or not you beleive in God, satan or nothing or something else, if you don't feel right about the situation it's best to heed that warning and walk away. Fear is a stronghold and why let something taint your spirit for a kick?

I think if the ouija board is used in an evil way it can cause harm. If used the right way without wishing evil then it can be used for fun. It is all in the way it is used in my opinion. Happy Mylotting

The explanation I provided about ideomotor movement is fact, it has been proven and demonstrated many times. Derren Brown (a psychological illusionist) did it in UK with a group of people (on TV) except they didn't use a ouija board, they used tables in a big hall. The same principle applies and it worked, he suggested a name to them, etc, had them all believe they were trying to contact this person and sure enough the audience spelt out this guys name, the name he had suggested to them originally which he had actually made up!

I believe that ouija boards are just for fun and are completely safe. Like you, I've been places where ouija boards are seemingly working, but I've always believed that someone was just messing with the board. Personally, I'll never believe in them unless I personally have an experience where it's just me and the board and it spells out something very clearly to me! But of course, I don't really know...

Exactly who really knows what's going on with Ouija boards. Even I use it on my own like you said and it spelt something I still wouldn't know for sure who or what did that. Or even me doing it subconsciously!
