How to loose the stink...

So we recently moved to a new house and I had to house my ferret with a family member while we got everything set up and settled. This weekend my fuzzy moved back in with us. While she was away I guess she wasn't taken very good care of which really bothers me. She is fine. But her cage and bedding is a mess. It stinks to high heaven and hasn't been washed. I scrubbed and washed and cleaned and can't get the smell out. I even took the cage to the car wash to try and get it clean that way. I'm not sure what to do. My boyfriend is mad because he doesn't want our house smelling, which I understand, but there has to be something more I can do to get the stink out. Any suggestions?

They said cleaning or wiping with mixed water and vinegar is good to eliminate stinky smelly odors. And charcoals for natural air deodorizer or anti-odors.

Thanks!! I'm willing to try just about anything right now. I think somehow my cage absorbed the odor. It's metal with plastic coating so I'm not sure how that happened. Thanks for the tip though!!

A good thing to do is the water and vinegar method, it should help with the smell and also kill off the bacteria that cause a stink. It'll smell like vinegar for a little bit, but once it airs out it'll be fine.
Also, if you're able to, after you wash it with water and vinegar you can leave it outside to air out overnight, or for as long as you can. It'll really blow away the rest of the stink and help it get fresh smelling.

If you use bleach as well to clean the cage only and then rinse well after it will get rid of all smells. You could also clean the bedding and hang it out to dry we do that here. We have two fuzzy's here who can make a pretty big mess and when there litter isn't placed just so will make a mess all over their bedding.. so we take it out and hang it outside to air. Spraying the bedding with the hose works as well.
