I have four dogs and of course I am one of those daffy dog owners that gets their dogs a gift for Christmas, Easter and Valentines day... Are you going to do something special for your four legged friend for Valentines day?

What's really funny is that I have the four dogs and only one is interested in chocolate. I usually buy them a bag of rib bones or go to one of our chocolate places and get them dog biscuits that have been dipped in dog friendly "chocolate" which is carob (if I remember right). I usually don't get the dogs all kinds of special gifts, but since this is the second Valentines day I've had Monica and Little Bit and Katie's first I thought I might get them a little something. After all, even though I do have a human sweetheart, they too are sweethearts. Then again, Bill (my BF)gets them special treats. He has spoiled them worse than I could ever think of doing. He brings down "Human" jerky that he has cut into little cubes so that he can give them their treats. And I thought I was bad!!!

Of course I don't leave the cats out of the gift receiving. Unfortunately I am in between growing seasons for the cat nip (they all love home grown ) otherwise I would harvest a huge pile of cat nip and let them have at it. So I guess I'll try to find some fresh dried nip for the little fiends. Or maybe an exercise video. I tried to get out of bed this morning and I had three cats laying on me! I couldn't move, it was like being held down by bricks!!! Dinglebeary and Khuay are lightweights, but Willy is built like a football quarterback! He isn't fat his is extremely muscular! Ding Ding and Khuay are built like ballet dancers, and Murphy is kind of a mini Mama build.

I am going to have Bill pick up some doggie treats from PetCo while I'm in class. Also I'll have him see about some cat nip for the kitties. I don't know about the cards yet, as Abby(my sister's dog) loves to grab paper and make spit wads. I get up in the morning to a snow fall of spit wads from Abby and shredded paper from the CIA agent! I can't leave them out of the "I Love You" fun though. No point in getting the cats expensive toys and such, they go for the paper sacks instead . I knew that you would give them something special for holidays and birthdays...you're just like me! Now, it's going to take some time to figure out if it's a good thing or a bad thing!!!! I think it depends on which side you're on, personally I think it's good--but of course I'm crazy anyhow!

I don't get them anything expensive. It's usually rib bones or if I go to the thrift shop I get them a new stuffed toy, but it isn't a super expensive gift, just a little treat. I think about the "rich" that get their dogs diamond collars etc and think it's a bit much...but little extra treats aren't too bad.

I don't have any dog so I don't think I would buy any dog a valentine gift. LOL. Well, to be honest I feel like it would be a little bit sad to celebrate valentine day with my dog because I actually have a partner to do that. It means I was being so lonely so that I would need a dog to accompany me in valentine day, right? If I have a dong, I would probably give it a chance to watch a romantic movie with me if I don't have partner.

I do have a boy friend that is as goofy about my herd of critters as I am. He'll probably get them a little something too. I do it because these furry animal friends are such wonderful friends and I feel that I should celebrate their love too. Monica sleeps right beside my head, and if I have trouble breathing, she washes my face until I wake up and use my inhaler. She also knows when I am going to have a migraine and is right there nudging my head as if to say "You need your medications". I can't put a price tag on that kind of concern and love from an animal. And, like many other animal lovers, we do celebrate with them, because they are a wonderful part of the family. Fortunately you do have a partner so you will have a wonderful day with your partner. It makes me glad that you do have one, so that you won't be lonely on that day. I speak from experience that it's a hard day to celebrate when you don't have a partner in your life to enjoy the happiness of such a wonderful day. Thank you for taking the time to respond, and have a wonderful Valentines Day.

That's a good idea. It would be a great thing to do with your pets. I dont use giving gift to my pets but I had rather give them food to eat.

As I posted before, I get them either rib bones or a stuffed toy from the thrift shop. I figure the bones are better because they not only help keep the dog's teeth clean but they also give the dogs something to do. I have three mini Dachshunds so they get a lot of chew time out of rib bones. I also, if I am near the store, will get them dog biscuits that have been dipped in carob. But I don't go overboard for their gifts.

Well this is kinda tricky because most of our girlfriends still live with their parents and you can't know their reaction when they see a dog in the house. You have to know the family very good and also ask your girlfriend for an oppinion, if you don't wanna be such a big surprise :) Else it can be a great thing. They get attached really fast, also they see you in their dog, he reminds her of you which is a good thing :)
