What's your favorite topic? Do other people like to read it? Recently I have discovered that I love to write about art history, but this is not necessarily a topic that a lot of people are interested in reading. I also like to write about travel. How about YOU?

Travel is my favourite topic. Even if I haven't been somewhere myself, I love doing the research and then writing it up. I've been successful in selling articles about places to go in China, though I've never set foot in the country. And I always write about places I go to on holiday.
I would be happy to read about art history, although I agree it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Wow, that is so wonderful. I have always wanted to see the pyramids and Luxor! My goals were to see three old sites: the Acropolis in Greece, the pyramids in Egypt, and the Great Wall of China (as well as a lot of other things, of course). I did manage to get to Greece a few years back, and it was awesome. I imagine that seeing Egypt would be even more spectacular. Hope you and your husband have a wonderful trip.

It's funny what you say about travel, because I worked as a travel writer years back, and it was always easier for me to write about places I hadn't been vs. those I had already visited. Strange, huh?
I am always reading about places I haven't traveled to yet, but still think I will get there...like China or Egypt or India. Where would you like to travel most? (This is one of my favorite topics with my friends! It allows me to dream of traveling to new places. At any given moment, it can be some place different. Right now, if I could go anywhere, I guess it would be South America. Ask me next week and it might be China.)

Since I've been researching China I've found out about so much I really want to see. I don't think there's much chance really, but it's a dream destination. Still, next month we're off to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings - my birthday present to my husband for whom it is his dream destination.

I love writing about celebrations (birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries, etc.), home improvement projects, and I love writing about art projects. I'm not sure if others like to read what I write, but so far I've never had a complaint and I do receive positive feedback from time to time. :0)

I love art and craft projects, and with the age of the Internet, there is so much more available online than in the days when you had to go to the library or read magazines.
You must be a crafty person if you like home improvement and art projects! As for celebrations, well who doesn't love a good reason to party?
Good luck with your writing and thanks for responding!

I like writing about what I know and have experienced. I have written a lot on self-defense techniques because martial arts is one of my interests. What I have written is only for members only and is not widely available.
I used to write true stories but am not doing it now because the publisher insisted on using a different pen name. For the same publisher I wrote stories of my paranormal experiences.
My writing was disrupted by my consulting work on writing assignments. I am planning to become active again.
all the best in your writings,
rosdimy

I find it easier to write about true/nonfiction topics as well. You sound like you have some unusual interests, so you have a lot of great stuff to write about.
Good luck in your writing and thanks for responding!

I like to write short stories and poems. Most of my poems are either about my own experiences or based on new age and spiritual stories. Some people like my poems and other people don't understand them. I have shown some of them to people I know and I have also posted some of them on a forum. I always enjoy hearing people's opinions about them including the negative ones. I can't post them on international forums, because they are all written in my own language (Danish) I have only written a few short stories so far, and they have been about traveling. I haven't shown them to anyone yet, and I still need to work some more on them.

I love poetry, and used to write a lot of poems when I was young (I guess I had more emotional reactions then). I also love short stories, and really admire short story writers. One of my favorites is Stuart Dybeck. Creating a great short story is a real skill. Most people prefer novels, but a short story well done...there's nothing better.
Good luck with your writing.

Well, I'm an Army brat, so I'm used to moving a lot. This sort of lead to a love of travel, which I enjoy writing about. I also enjoy writing about musical theater. I also enjoy writing about history, either American history or WWII-era Europe.

I love travel as well, and I am sure being an Army brat, you got to see a lot of interesting places and meet a ton of people. I like theater too, but never thought about writing about it...that's a cool topic.
I like history too, especially as I get older myself. When I was younger, I could have cared less. Nowadays, I think it's so interesting. I love art, and through that, have learned a lot about history, as it's all tied together. I also like politics and, with that, of course you have to know what led to the present.
Thanks for your response. Good luck with your writing.

Making notes about this kind of topic is great background material for short stories and novels...did you realize that?
I suppose you are doing it as a record of your life, however, but observation is a great skill to hone. I've tried to keep a diary/journal at various times in my life, but I just can't keep it going.
Thanks for responding!

People love to hear what others experience, so writing about your life is probably a great topic. One of my best selling articles ever was about living abroad, a personal story for me. Most of the time, I write about topics that don't have anything to do with me at all.
Good luck with your writing!

Currently I am just trying to write and I am writing in different topics and various subjects also, like I started writing product reviews, writing about political issues in my blog, some social issues and many of them I am not even a good writer but I am trying to make it better in coming days

I have written my share of product reviews, and that's a good topic. I also love to write book reviews, and do that for a couple of different book websites. It doesn't pay anything, but you get a lot of free books, so it's great.
I love politics too, but don't write as much about that. I wrote a couple of articles during the election, but nothing since. Do you enjoy your blog? Do a lot of people read it?
Good luck with your writing!

I don't really know what to write about. I suppose that all depends on my mood at the moment. I do write with the thought that nobody is going to read it so I don't really hold back. Cheers!!!

You might as well go all out with your writing. If anything, this is probably an asset because most people don't make their writing interesting enough. You can always tone it done if you need to, but making it more lively is a lot harder!
Good luck with your writing, and thanks for responding!

I normally like to write about passed experiences.
Turning it into a different person.
I also like making fantasies stories.
Just making it up as I go along.
I realize, not many people would be interested, but I like to write it anyway. hahaha!
Take care.

You would be surprised what people like to read. I go over to the Reading section on MyLot, and so many times, the favorite genre for reading is either fantasy or horror (like Stephen King). So your fantasy stories probably would be very popular!

I write sonnets about cats. I have a book published of 100 of my cat sonnets. Cat-House Sonnets, 100 poems celebrating cats, is available at Amazon, at my publisher's website, http://www.jorlanpublishing.com/Cat-HouseSonnets.htm and direct from me for an autographed copy. Many people who love cats as I do have really enjoyed by book. It won the Muse Medallion from Cat Writers Association.

That's great. Of course, I am a cat lover, but even if someone is not, the fact that you could manage to write so many to me signals that you are very creative. It's difficult to keep writing about the same subject and come up with new ideas. Well done! I'll go over to your website and check it out.
Good luck as you continue to pen your sonnets!

I keep blocking when I try to create fiction. I do pretty well when it comes to facts, like about my family, things I've done, our pets, but I can't create anything!! It's very frustrating, because I just love reading sci-fi/fantasy.

I agree with you. For me, it is much easier to sit down and write a nonfiction article than to come up with a fictional short story. I really admire short story writers and novelists. What great imaginations! And being able to transform an idea into a complete book...amazing!
Good luck with your writing!

Guess what, all of a sudden I got the urge to write. Manage to write 2 pieces of nonsense, and these are my first 2 articles. Before that, only put effort into coursework, submitted to lecturer for the sake of earning marks. Now really nervous, hope my "babies" are accepted!
Actually most readers are like me, will read anything as long as the title appeals. So I guess, even for art history, if you can come out with silly title, more folks will read.

There is not any limited favorite topic i like to respond to there is just thing the Topics to which i can respond and which i think is very interesting topic i just responds to that discussion.
And some time i do respond to help other. I think it is better to be diversified than to just stop on one topic.

My most successful articles, in terms of earnings, are those I have written about health and fitness. I do quite enjoy writing them as I'm interested in staying fit and healthy. These topics are easy to research and I can share my knowledge and understanding when writing them.
I really like writing about nature, animals, wildlife, conservation, and green issues, because I am enthusiastic about them. I enjoy sharing what I know and what I can discover.
I wrote a lot about art history when I was studying for my degree, but that was academic writing. I find it less easy to write about art in general terms, but I do like reading about it.

I agree with you; it's a lot easier to write about topics that you are interested in, like keeping fit and caring about the environment. It's pretty easy for me to get interested in new topics, but I always seem to drift back to the old favorites.
Good luck with your writing. From looking at your profile and some of your articles online, you seem to be doing quite well!

Hi Anything Art,
I have written on various topics including making money online, writing tips, parenting tips, fun websites and many more. There are some readers who have indicated that they liked what they have read while others have left nasty comments on my writing pages. To me, it does not matter, negative publicity is still publicity for me. LOL! I just like to write on anything and everything that interests me at that point in time. I have not written as many articles as I want to. Have been pretty busy. I hope to start writing again soon.

I really love writing fiction. Anything that's out of the ordinary. I guess I'm such a dreamy person. For non-fiction it would be travel and arts. I never ran out of ideas when it comes to those topics. Maybe I'll consider jumping into a travel writing career someday.

Surprisingly enough, I worked as a travel writer for awhile. It sounds a lot more glamorous than it was, but I have never lost my love for travel. Now, writing about it (not for a job), it's a lot more fun!
Good luck with your writing. Keep dreaming, the world needs more dreamers!
