Instead of spending the more than several billions of dollars to try to patch up holes in the economy, why not give the taxpayers another stimulus check? BUT, this time make it an amount that would actually give people the security to take care of the things that they need to, as in bills and debts, and still have enough left over to spend some AND save some. Ballpark of $20,000 per legal adult citizen would put the overall US total at much less than $7 Billion.
It's enough to open a small business; save; get caught up on mortgages; make car payments so they don't get repossessed; parents would afford for kids to have medical insurance; a lot less people would be on government assistance and programs that are needing the funding right now; and people would feel comfortable enough to spend money, which would create jobs. But, $20,000 per adult for the majority of us that are in the lower half of the tax bracket is not enough of a safety net that would make people NOT want to work and keep their future in mind. So, it's a pretty fair amount.
Thank you for reading my thoughts and hopefully passing it on.

This will not work. If they gave everybody $20,000 you still have a problem. No jobs. No jobs have been created. So, in a year when that money is gone we are back to square one. There are no easy answers. Should they give some money back to the citzens yes. But giving money with creating jobs only prolongs the problem. The last check although much smaller went straight to pay bills. This one would also.
Americans are going to have to change the way we live. We are going to have to start to save money. we need to expand public transportation.Living in Tokyo and having lived in Seoul i can tell you that having public transportation is a great thing and it creates jobs. Second we need to go back to community living. You know being able to get everything you need within a 15 walk from your home.
but, back to the point giving away money without creating jobs will only make a bad situation worse

Hi Shopgrl, many governments do give out money, in the form of hard cash, but the amount is really low. $20,000 per person is a lot of money, the best is to stretch the payout over the next 2 years, then the economy will steadily recover. After that, guess the government will find some ways to take back the money.
