Wow.
A relative of mine works for a popular U.S. Entertainment T.V. Show and she was working at the Grammy's tonight. She sent me a text message early in the evening with a bit of information (before it was broadcasted on the news and online).
She said that Chris Brown and Rihanna were in Chris Brown's car when a fight between them broke out. Apparently, Chris Brown fled the scene and the person he was fighting with was his girlfriend, Rihanna. She now has bruises on her face and body.
They were both scheduled to perform on the Grammy's but neither of them showed up - causing the show to scramble to find replacements - one of which was Justin Timberlake.
Chris Brown was MIA until this evening when he showed up with his attorney and turned himself in. The news is reporting that he posted bail but my relative says her sources are saying that it was actually Jay-Z who posted his bail.
I'm so sad to hear this - I really liked both of them (Chris & Rihanna) and it will be interesting to see what their P.R. folks say to try and fix this whole thing and what it's going to do to Chris' "good boy" image.
Here is an online article I found:
(Feb. 8) - Chris Brown turned himself in to the LAPD after authorities had started investigations into an alleged felony battery between Brown and an unidentified woman.
Brown had surrendered to police. He posted $50,000 bail and was released.
The LAPD had stated in a release the 19-year-old R&B singer and a woman were in a vehicle in the Hancock Park neighborhood early Sunday when they began arguing. After they exited the car, the argument escalated. The LAPD has indicated they will not release the accuser's name.
"The identity of the victim will not be released," says Officer April Harding. "Any victim who's involved in a domestic violence incident is entitled to confidentiality."
Brown has long been dating pop superstar Rihanna, who was slated to perform early in the show. But she dropped out, the Recording Academy said in a statement less than an hour before the show and she was not seen at the venue as the show was about to get under way.
"We have just been informed that Rihanna will not be attending tonight's 51st Annual Grammy Awards. We're sorry she is unable to join us," the academy said in a brief statement that did not offer any further explanation.
Numerous reports saying the two were involved in a car accident and a rep for Rihanna reportedly did not confirm or deny the story when asked for comment by MTV News. "Rihanna is well. Thank you for the care and support" her longtime record company spokesperson confirmed to BlackVoices.com via email.
"After stopping his car, Brown and the woman got out and the argument escalated," the Los Angeles police Department said. "The woman suffered visible injuries and identified Brown as her attacker."
The LAPD received a 911 call reporting the disturbance and, according to the statement, when officers arrived they found the victim, but Brown had already left the scene.
An LAPD spokeswoman declined further comment.
Brown, who released his first album in 2005 at the age of 16, the self-titled "Chris Brown," topped the charts with his hit single "Run It!"
Barbados-born Rihanna has already logged four No. 1 singles since breaking onto the charts in 2005.
She won a 2007 Grammy Award for her single "Umbrella," a collaboration with the rapper Jay-Z, and had been scheduled to perform her latest hit, "Disturbia," Sunday night.

I heard that it may not have been Rihanna, but his charges say otherwise. The fact that his charge was Domestic abuse means that it was someone that he was in a relationship with. And i believe it also proves that it was someone of the opposite gender. I hope that she is ok. I do like both of the singers, and hope that everything works out for the best for the two of them.

I reserve judgement until it`s over. But any man who beats a woman is a b!tch and should be tied to the tree of woe and beat like a he stole something. Having said that he will never do a day in jail. They will be back together at the end of the week . JayZ will work it out.

All I have read was that a woman came out of a car and said that Brown attacked her and that both Rihanna and Chris Brown who were both scheduled to perform at the Grammys tonight were absent and replacements had to be found. This is the first time that they are mentioning who the woman might be. I thought it was another woman entirely but then on the other hand that would make sense as to why she didn't come.

I won't disagree that a lot of magazines are full of lies BUT my relative had no reason to lie to me and she isn't making any money from telling me about it and the only money I'm making is a few cents from posting what she told me, here on MyLot (which is not why I shared it - I just couldn't keep it to myself!).

That is soo sad, Kudus for Rihanna for going to the police, and not caring about what the press will do or say.

I read that they are not sure that Rihanna's non-appearance at the Grammys was linked to this episode. Although it probably is. I don't think they have identified the girl he beat up yet though. I don't think it was her - I hope not. So sad!

I would have hoped it wasn't true but my relative has some of the best insiders who's job it is to find out this information, first and they pride themselves on the facts and not just gossip.
She told me everything first, via text message, and then about an hour later it started breaking on all the news channels - almost exactly like she said it would.
I hope it's not true but I'm afraid it is. Apparently a lot of people saw what happened since it was on a public street and it moved from the car to the sidewalk. Reports are coming in that Rihanna has been seen with bruises on her face - not sure how true it is, but I guess only time will tell.
Rihanna's publicist has already made a statement stating that she is o.k. and thanks for the concern - they did NOT deny that it was her, and if in fact it was not her.. that is the first thing their P.R. people would be saying - loud and clear. The fact that they did not, is pretty much a sign that it was her.
I'm sad because I'm a big fan of both of them and I loved that they were together, I thought they made a very cute couple - so much talent.

Rihanna has been discharged from Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, having been escorted out a back exit of the hospital some time during the night. "They used a decoy to throw off the media," a source close to the investigation into what went down between Rihanna and Chris Brown early Sunday morning tells E! News. http://www.eonline.com/uberblog/b99292_rihanna_leaves_hospital_postpones.html
As far as I am concerned she has been identified. She checked herself in on sunday night and was discharged on monday night.

That's really disturbing. I really like them too 'cause they look good together. I thought Chris Brown was a nice guy but there's no excuse for beating a woman whoever she is. I just wish this mess will be resolved soon and to the best of both parties' interest. Now, Chris Brown has a bad record and it's not good for his career. I wonder what they're fighting about..hmmm.

My husband was asking me about this but I told him I hadn't heard it. But then I heard them talking about it on the radio yesterday. I hate that because they both are really good singers and they both are really doing well. It's bad too because some young kids look up to singers and actors/actresses, etc. and when they see/hear this happen it's never a good thing.

I cant understand why people are so interested in the fact that a young man is accused of assaulting a young woman. It happens to our neighbors, friends, family, and others everyday. Its ashame that it happens. I think domestic violence in any case should not be used to sell tabloids. Unfortunately it does. I am not saying I dont buy it. I would be lying if I did. I am just dumbfounded at how their attempt to say the so called victim was not Rhianna. Why would he hit someone else. I mean he shouldnt be hitting anybody but come on. We all know if their was someon then it was her. Jealousy is a bit*h.dl

there is no sense in that kind of behavior. i just heard on the news where he had canceled some other engagement. next thing u know you'll see them all lovey dovey. i hope not but wouldn't be surprised. i hope she knows if he'll do it once he'll definitely do it again. an abuser is an abuser no matter who he is. hope they put his butte in jail.

Another sad news for the world of showbiz. Well, this thing happened almost to everyone and this must not be taken for granted because this is really horrible, having someone beaten by his love one is no joke, and whatever the outcome of Chris Brown's investigation, he should be punished accordingly.

Because of the nature of the crime - they will not release the identity of the victim until she wants to be known.
At this point all we can go by is witnesses who come forward as well as the timeline of events.
Witnesses who live in that neighborhood, who called 911 - state that it was Rihanna.
Chris Brown & Rihanna were together at the Grammy pre-party that night, right before this incident happened at 12:30am.
Chris & Rihanna were/are a couple and it would seem very likely that they were going home together around that time, passing through that neighborhood, when it happened.
Not to mention, if neither of them were involved - their press agents would be making it very clear that it was not Rihanna... because if it wasn't her, wouldn't she want people to know that and that her boyfriend did not beat her? And his press agents would be wanting it known that their client did not beat her, if he didn't - because this is going to tarnish his image BIG TIME.
But they are keeping quiet except to say "Rihanna is fine and thanks for the concern". Hmmm smells fishy to me.
I hope she is really o.k.

That's so sad to hear! They were such a cute couple, but if in fact he physically hurt her, she needs to dump him now before the situation escalates and turn into something even more serious. Even if it wasn't her, he has no right to lay a finger on anyone!

I read and article about this also, but it is written there that Chris Brown is accused by assaulting unknown woman. I was shocked when I read this when you said that it was Rihanna. That's too bad. And yeah, I saw the Grammy last night and Chris Brown and Rihanna didn't perform in stage.

Well that was very sad to here. I thought Chris Brown was one of the good guys. I'm not jumping to dis him so fast, because sometimes "these women" causes on themselves. She might of just kept pushing him and pushing until he snapped. Remember the movie "The Family that Preys Together"she pushed him. On the other hand he could be a beater. Its just a real shame.

I read the article in E! online, and it really was Rihanna, they even posted her full name and she has some nicks on her face. And since this is way to fresh for the grammy's, it would be a bit too much to just show up and pretend nothing happened. Even though that's their job and what to do. I can't believe Chris Brown became a scumbag! Plus he took off before the cops got there. Man...that says a lot...he's definitely not a man yet. Hopefully he grows up pretty soon.
