Fresh Fruit vs. Fruit Shakes?

There are times when I prefer fruit shakes over fresh fruits because they're more refreshing when blended with ice. What about you guys?

Fruit certainly does contain a sugar; it's called 'fructose.' Fruit is something that's a very important part of anyone's nutritional plan, especially people with diabetes. It doesn't mean that you want to eat unending amounts of fruit; it means you need to count those carbohydrates, or consider those carbohydrates, in your meal plan. But they are a great way to spend those carbohydrates that are a part of your individualized nutrition plan. They have a lot of vitamins and minerals in them, and so even though they do contain a form of sugar, they are certainly -- have a lot of nutritional benefit to them and would be an important part of a healthy diet. Fruit juice is a possibility, but one that we would not recommend, certainly, as highly as you would recommend having fruit to eat. The better choice is certainly to eat the whole piece of fruit. You get the fiber, you get a lot more bang for your buck when you eat the whole piece of fruit than when you drink the juice. It's important to remember too that it takes several pieces of fruit to make that glass of fruit juice, so you are going to be getting a pretty big punch of carbohydrate when you drink a big glass of juice. so it's important to pay attention to how much carbohydrate is in that glass of juice, how big the glass is. And when you can, pick that whole piece of fruit -- it's just a better value, better choice than drinking a lot of fruit juice. so go for fruit rather than juice.

Certainly having a fruit instead of juice or shake is healthier option.

well i dont really see the difference i could eat and drink both of them at the same time..its healthier and it taste really really good and refreshing..but if i had to choose just one then it would be a fruit shake but only with fresh fruit not anything with a whole bunch of sugar and all this other junk.

Well I too prefer the fruit shakes more than I prefer to have fresh fruits. There is no doubt in the fact that fresh fruits are better and healthier for the body. And more than that I have something more to share. From among the fruit shakes I like the mango shake very much. I like the flavor of mangoes very much. After all it is said as the king of he fruits. And for me the summer is the best time for mango shake. There are many people who make their shake rich by adding dry fruits in that but I keep my shake simple. I do not add many ingredients into that. I like it simple as the natural taste is conserved in that. But if you add more of other ingredients into that then you may not be able to take the real taste of mango shake.

Hello. I like both fresh fruits and fruit shakes. I like eating fresh fruits because its good for us. I like fruit shakes because its refreshing and delicious.

Yes, when it is very hot in summer heat, sometimes I prefer having cold and/or Icy fruit shakes over plain fruits. I especially like Mango Shake and Strawberry shake.

hi many of them like fresh fruits blended with ice. its more refreshing. but as i have heard its more healthy if we chew and eat fruits. its good for our teeth also. http://www.creativeporta.com

Hi there. I personally prefer fresh fruits over fruit shakes. I dunno. I guess it's because I find the actual fruits more tasty. Also, the taste of fruit shakes vary and there are some fruit shakes/smoothies that taste better than the others.

Hi there I prefer real fruit than juicy, no matter what. When I need a drink I prefer water, or tea (cold or hot) or even coffee. I'm not a really juicy person, lol I try to teach my kids that fruits are the most important thing, better than sweets. So, they are used to have some pieces during their day, at school, at kindergarten, at grandma's house or even at home.

I prefer having fresh fruit rarher than juice.You add sugar to juice which is not good for health . Fruit have fibres which is seived off in juices.I like fresh fruits for one more reason ...fruits like apple and pears when eaten cleans the teeth.

i prefer fresh fruit than fruit shake. because when i consume fruit shake, it makes my stomach so full, but if i consume fresh fruit it makes me fresh :) and not full in my stomach

Fruit shake for me coz you can add vanilla ice cream into it.
