I have hyperthyroidism. I have this disease since 2006. It really affects my lifestyle. I loose weight,i get easily tired, i cant enjoy now coffee and even watching horror and suspense movies :( My looks also changed cause my eyes bulge. I stopped taking up PTU and metimazole cause i am allergic. My doctor gave me an option to undergo radio active therapy or surgery. But then my doctor hold that medication cause they didnt see any abnormality in my thyroscan. Does anyone have same thyroid probs with me?

We're the same. I also have hyperthyroid. It starts when my friends noticed that I'm loosing weight, my eyes bulged, and my heartbeat beats very fast even when I'm just walking. And that time I thought I'm just very stressed because of work. But I was wrong. Maybe I got this, because it's hereditary. Most of my family members are having this. I'm just 22 when I got this. But until now I'm taking medicines, and thank God I'm getting back to normal. Just continue taking up your medicines, and choose the doctor who's a specialist on thyroid, and just have a faith in Him. Happy mylotting.

You're still young.. How long do you have a hyperthyroid? The meds given to me first is strumazole. Then I switched to tapdin. But both is very effective to me. But you said you're allergic, it's too bad. So what are you taking now? We cannot just set aside this because it'll turn into serious health complications..

unchie, Do you still suffer from hyperthyroidism? I realize I'm coming across your post very late.... If you do still have these problems, can you please add me to your friends list and message me? I will share with you how I cured my Grave's Disease, naturally, without medication. My heart rate was 120 bpm, and now it's 68 (still a little high, but MUCH better). I don't have shakes anymore, I can tolerate caffeine, my weight has stabilized, my goiter is gone, my insomnia is gone, and my energy level has stabilized. Only reason why I'm not posting how I got better here is because it could be a lengthy post, and if you're feeling better I don't want to feel silly for taking the time. If anyone else wants to know, I'll gladly post it here... I'm not endorsing any products or making any money off of it - I just want to share my success story. You don't have to suffer from thyroid disease, and you don't have to take meds to get better!

Years ago, I had thyroid complications. Usually then the eyes bulge, they call it graves disease. I had hyperthyroidism, but I still gained 20 pounds in one month. No one could understand this. I was not eating that much food. Finally they realized it was because I was taking birth control meds and they found out that the birth control meds were interfering with the thyroid meds. If you are taking any other meds, you might ask your doctor if there is a problem with your meds conflicting. I remember feeling very nervous and on edge. Once my meds were adjusted, I finally had a partial thyroidectomy and I was fine. My thyroid has quit working completely now so I take thyroid meds. I feel fine. It takes a little time to get the dosage right, so you have to be patient and work with your doctor. Do not be afraid to ask for a second opinion if you don't feel comfortable with your current physician. Good luck and God bless.

Yes. Praise God. My eyes did go back to normal. My doctor was surprised at how you cannot even tell that I had graves disease now. Also, my scar is completely gone. I have to really raise my head up and make an effort to show you where the scar is, otherwise you would never know it is there. I should also add, I had a baby which is what I think triggered this hyperthyroidism. They say 1 in 1000 or something like that gets a form of thyroidism from pregnancy. I saw the OB/Gyn weekly and the endocrin on alternate weeks. They told me after I delivered that they did not expect me to go full term. They put me on birth control pills after my daughter was born. That is what really threw my thyroid further out of whack. It took almost 2 years to get it under control enough to do surgery. That was a really weird time for me. During that time when my thyroid was crazy, my husband said he could say "Good morning" one time and I would be OK. He would say the very same thing the next day and I would start crying, or I would throw a frying pan at him and swear. You never knew which one of me was coming out at that moment. I was worse than Sybil.(Movie character with multiple personalities). I do remember that I had a very sharp tongue. It is embarrassing even today to think of some of the things I said and did (LOL). I hope you are able to keep your cool. If not, then you know why. LOL.

When I was pregnant with our third child, I was told by my ob/gyn that I had hypothyroidism. She said I needed to go to the endocrinologist to make a absolute diagnosis. Hubby and I went to the doctor that she referred. He was very patronizing to me and basically was no help. He chalked up my symptoms as not much because I was an at-home mother who homeschooled two children and didn't get out of the house enough. I never went back to him needless to say. With each subsequent pregnancy I was told I had hypothyroidism. I didn't want to take medication because of my pregnancies. In Jan. 2008 I was pregnancy with our seventh child and my ob/gyn did the regular tests and now I am hyperthyroid! I don't know how it changed but it did. She convinced me to go back to the endocrinologist but this time I went to a new doctor closer to where we live now and she's really nice. The endo dr. told me that not being able to lose weight, being tired all the time are symptoms of both hypo and hyper thyroid. She ran tests on me and found out that I am subclinical hyperthyroid. I don't show the classic symptoms. She had me get a ultrasound which showed I have a nodule on one side of the thyroid and a cyst on the other. Ever since having the baby 14 months ago I noticed that I live in a brain fog. Each day blends into the other. It is very hard to function. I have never been able to lose any weight since my first pregnancy and I feel really miserable. She now wants me to have a biospy, more blood tests and another ultrasound. I just want to find a natural alternative to medication. Hopefully I will find something here or through searches on the internet. Maybe together we will find the answer. Sincerely in Christ, Leesa C. Eph.2:8,9

Hello iamprolife: I came back to check this site because I have a special interest. See my post above. I know you want a "natural" alternative for your thyroid condition. Please take what I am going to say to heart. Do not play with your thyroid. When your thyroid is out of order you are subjecting yourself to heart attacks and other serious problems. It would be a sin and a shame to leave your children motherless when all you had to do was take a pill every day. The meds you take for thyroid are quite safe. Like any hormone, the dosage has to be adjusted for you. It may take the doctor a few tries to get it just right. They check your blood and they increase or decrease the dosage based on the results. When you are taking the right amount of thyroid, you will be amazed at how much better you feel. Hillary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey are examples of famous women who are now on thyroid meds. Alternative herbal thyroid meds (usually kelp) are not prescribed because there is no way to ensure a measured dose right for the individual. You do not want to take herbal meds for your thyroid because it can further throw your thyroid out of whack. Too much or too little can hurt you. You only know if it's right by having blood tests. I urge you, if you have a doctor that you trust, listen to him or her and follow their advice. Your beautiful children need you. Do not play with your thyroid. God bless. I will keep you in my prayers.

Hi, I also had hyperthyroidism. I experience all the symptoms you mentioned except the bulging of the eyes. Bulging of eyes as far as I know shows an advance stage for this condition. But if there is nothing wrong with the thyroid scan... there must be a problem somewhere. Do not be content. If the therapy is getting slower. You are free to go to another doctor and ask for another opinion. I undergone a radio therapy. All the symptoms of Hyper was gone in weeks time, but i am now concerned with my condition because im gaining more pounds each day. I know this is very related to my hormone imbalance. So im lookin forward to go visit the doctor again. If anything is confusing in your situation, ASK your doctor... it is his resposibilty to explain things regarding your health to you... If he is not doing that, find another doctor! And I suggest you do it fast! The symptoms you mention cannot be handled by your body for a long time. YOu have an urgent thing to do.

Thank you Unchie. Please try eating fruits that will truly help your thyroid problem. One of the best that you can add to your diet which I have learned to help with thyroid problems are guyabano, vitamin c, pineapples and bananas. Get all the vitamins and minerals that you can get. There is nothing greater than eating fruits and vegetables to keep our body healthy to keep it functioning well.
