Such as Salvation Army? Toys for Tots? etc? I love donating Toys and stuff to these places and helping make a less fortunate kids life more brighter. Some of these would have no Christmas without the help of others.

Christmas present - Christmas present
Yes, we try to do what we can. I also like this time of year to help my kids learn to give as well. Since they were little, my kids have learned to give toys to other less fortunate kids. This also helps make room for all the new stuff that they get for Christmas.

Every Christmas we choose a child from the Angel Tree to buy gifts for. We try to be a little extravagant with what we buy to make Christmas a really special time for the child. We have also participated in various church-organized events such as a free community gift wrap, taking up collections for the food bank and a home for mentally disadvantaged adults. We both enjoy doing these things so much!

Yes, donating can be Very rewarding. Christmas to me would not be Christmas if I did not donate something to kids. If I could I would buy something for everyone I knew and make sure everyone has at least one gift.

I never bother with the house collections, mainly because I have placed clothes etcetera into a bag before and they have remained on my doorstep. As for the Salvation Army, I always put money in their collection boxes and especially so at Christmas time when everyone else is rushing around buying chocolates, drinks and presents and these people are more concerned with Carol Singing to raise money to help others.

At Christmas time, this is a Great time to remember them. I know I a lot of the times give back to them too in the Kettles.

I definitely try to give as much as I can. we have a mitten tree at my church, where you can donate mittens by putting them on the christmas tree. it's really cute. plus there's plenty of opportunities to donate to the salvation army santas with their little bells. :]

A Mitten Tree? This sounds like something Great. I think a lot more places need to think about this one especially in the colder areas like that have been hit this yr.

I do to the Humane Society, but I do it as gifts to my family...donate $$$ in their name. We also always donate to my kids school which sponsors children in need.

That is Cool. Over the yrs. I have donated to many different places. Just depends on where I find that still is needing help or what I can do to help them.

I always donate all of my daughters toys and clothes that she doesn't use anymore! I can't really afford to give money but something is better then nothing!

I do this every year, actually just last night I was at the Family Dollar and bought a few toys to put in the Toys for Tots box they had just inside their store. I also, help my mom in law for Thanksgiving and Christmas, she adopts a family for both of these holidays. I don't live near her now, so I usually send her money and a few things to add to the boxes she stuffs full of gifts and food. I used to go with her to the store to stock up the family on groceries for 3-6 months depending on the size of the family she adopts. I also buy for at least 2-3 Angels (from the Wal-Mart tree, or a business that is doing the same thing). This is my favorite time of year to be able to help those who are less fortunate as me; brings such great joy to me.

This year we adopted a family for christmas and bought them a list of items for each family member and then gave a cash donation. that was so much rewarding than ever recieving any christmas gift from anyone. I hope we can do it every year. There are soo many needy families..(including mine) but its better to give than to recieve.

I donate new, unopened toys to our professional hockey team's player's wives club- they collect them and the players take the gifts to children who are hospitalized in the local children's hospital. Other than that, I have to say that I don't donate other money at this time of the year. Christmas is for the kids, and I like that I am able to help them. I don't feel that I trust where the Salvation Army spends it's money- I almost get the impression that they are a shady operation, but I'm probably wrong.

I donate on a regular basis to an organization called "God"s Love We Deliver." Their mission is to improve the health and well-being of men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS and other serious illnesses by alleviating hunger and malnutrition. They prepare and deliver nutritious, high-quality meals to people who, because of their illness, are unable to provide or prepare meals for themselves.

Yes I do. I give to toy drives, food drives, etc. A couple of years ago I found one of the stores here, Lewiscraft had a "Knit for kids" program. I can buy the yarn needed and get a free pattern, knit the garment then take it back and get the money refunded for the yarn. I think it's a great way to get handmade clothing to needy kids and I love to knit, so why not?
