Do you find it hard not to have empathy for others even if you don't know them at all? I feel that I do have a lot of compassion. And I feel bad for those that have troubling times whether I know them or not.

I do find it easy to empathize with those having a difficult time. It partly has to do with the fact that I've been through hard times myself. It tends to depend on the situation....but 95% of the time, I find it very easy to relate to and empathize with others.

I thank you very much for responding. It is nice to hear that you have compassion and empathy for others. It is what makes you human. I don't understand how some people don't seem to feel emotion. When you have been through hard times and have had challenges in your life then I can imagine that you can truly relate.

I often feel empathy for the suffering of others, even if I don't know them. I was watching a segment of a show that was talking about people living in poverty, and it made me feel awful. I found myself crying for these people that I never met, and will never know. I wanted to find a way to help them. I guess my short answer is yes, I do feel bad for others, even if don't know them personally.

If anything, I have too much empathy. I can't bear to read stories about mistreated children or animals and the ones I hear about people losing their properties and jobs just really tear at my heart.

I find that I can empatheize fairly easily with most people. I think what we need to remember is that sympathy isn't empathy and vice versa. We can all try to empatheize and be compassionate, yet we don't have to let that effect our daily journey either.
