Mange

My daughter had gotten a puppy given to her and she kept it for about 3 days before she gave it to someone else because she knew that she could not take care of it. Well, she found out yesterday that the puppy, its mom , and brothers and sisters all have mange. What does this mean for my daughter?? Is there something she needs to do to her apartment? Is it catching to humans??

You need to find out what kind of mange it is. Sometimes mange is limit just to the one dog but there is a type that is very contagious. Does your daughter have other dogs? It sounds like this is the contagious one if all the other dogs hav eit. The best thing for her to do is start washing things the puppy touched.

No this was the only dog she ever had. She was wanting something to keep her company since she is home a lot on her own. I just called her and told her to wash whatever is around her house the dog touched. She said that he was mostly in the bathroom when he was her house and when she took him to her boyfriends he was outside.
