it won't kill me to stand for awhile.

honestly? yes! i still practice offering my seat to an elderly or handicap people.. sometimes they refused but we still have to offer the seat/s to them... there's no harm if we will at the end of the day it's a happy feeling that we helped other people and who knows good karma comes and when we get old same scenario and same response on what we did years ago ;)

Yes, I do this and I don't mind if its a short or a long travel! I have this kind of situation happen in the bus, there are so many mans sitting and two elderly woman get in the bus, but none of these mans give up their seat, instead me and another woman are the only person who have the guts to give up our seat. It makes me happy to this and knowing that there are some people do the same.

Sure I will - to the elderly, frail, pregnant, clergy, handicapped - or for that matter, any lady. My parents and teachers instilled these habits in us and am proud to be doing them yet. My sons too have acquired these habits from me and I am proud of them too. I think its also a "man" thing.

of course I would give up my seat. I have high respect for the elderly. It was just the way I was raised.

I always leave my seat when an elderly person gets on the bus and there are no other seats available. I would do the same thing if it was a long journey. I think it is way of being polite and showing consideration, and many elderly person are thankful or happy when they get a seat in a crowded bus, but not all. I once gave up my seat for an elderly woman and she got very insulted, asking me: "Do I really look that old?" I think she was around 80, and she had trouble standing, but she still refused the seat. The same thing has happend to me a few other times, but most of the people have been happy to get a seat.

Well, No I wouldn't nor could I personally. Why? It's not because I am extremely rude or inconsiderate of anothers needs. It's because I am in a wheelchair myself!
So, I come equipped with my own chair so I always have a place to sit and I never have to give up my seat for anyone else because it was made specifically for me... then again it probably a good thing I can't give my seat away because you would probably hsve to pick my sorry butt of the floor after 5 minutes and that wouldn't be a pretty sight.
So, no I'm not gonna give up my seat but, can I get an exemption please just this once ... until next time Happy Mylotting!

Well, I've been here a time or two before on the bus, thats what happens when you have to use public transportation to get from here to there. And yes, I have given up my seat to an elderly person whether it be in the front. In the front where there are signs saying you Must give up your seat, but in the back as well. Now there have been occasions when I have offered and the person said no, so I continue to sit there comfortably for the rest of the ride. And I do think that any young person should give their seat up to an elderly person unless they have some sort of disability that requires them to stay seated. I have seen times where little teenagers don't offer and I'm the first to do so, but hey they are old. Thinking about it wouldn't you want someone to offer to your parents or grandparents?
