The Place You Call Your Home, Do You Rent It, Or Do You Own It?

Philippines

We are renting an apartment right now. Back in Davao City, Philippines, we have a house of our own. I can feel the big difference that one has when he owns the place that he is settled in. There is peace, contentment, and assurance that no matter what happens, there is always a little property that will back one up. So, how about you? Are you contentedly settled where you are?

I just live in a studio apartment and I live with my cat. I can not afford to buy it thought, I could just rent it. since it is just a small place, I certainly don't want to settle down here. in order to have a better living, I have to figure out a way to make more money.

hi chameleon. you are on the right track about trying to raise sufficient funds so you can have your own house someday. i hope that you will find ways to be able to come up with the amount. it really is comforting to have a house of our own.

Hi trinidadvelasco! We do own our home but the lot is owned by my mother in law. Our home was built adjacent to my mother in law's house and we share a common yard. I really am not contented with it since I can't be really free to do as i wish. My mother in law is alright but there are certain rules that must be followed or else.. Take care and have a great day! lovelots..faith

although it is true that it is best to be on our own, the situation that you are in right now should be just fine, faith. try to have some savings each month say, a thousand, goes to the bank regularly for whatever opportunity that may come forth in the future. you will find out that this habit will be most helpful. you must be able to do this since you are not renting a house. good luck in all lyour undertakings, faith.

we own our house, ya...its a big support as we are free of worries of rent, also we can use it as we want, and also for future it is big support if you need any time, its like saving, the prices always go up and may help you in the time of crisis.

you are so lucky in this regard, eshaan. definitely, the value of your place will keep on going up as time goes by. like our place way back home. we bought it for some thousands and now, it is worth more than a million in philippine money. this holds true to your property, too.

No, not in the least. I am residing at a motel. I am looking forward to being out of here by this month.. Very soon.. I am renting it daily. So, it is not home for me.. After this, I will be renting an apartment.. But, there is nothing like having a home that you can own rather than to rent. I would rather own than rent.. You are right, it is more stable and secure. You can depend on it to be there, always.. It seems like you move faster when you are renting.. I would love to own my own home someday. It will happen, but just not right now.

it is really a difficult situation to be occupying a motel where one pays on a daily basis. it is much better once you have moved into an apartment cream. then, it is best to be in a house of our own. there is really no stability if we are jsut renting. anytime that we are no longer pleased with the renting conditions, we will always opt for a transfer somewhere else. this is so far from happening once we own the place that we live in.

yes, i know what you mean, bunnybon. there is no place like a home which you call your very own. but there is a good reason for you to feel settled enough in your son's place. take care and enjoy your life, my friend. your son takes good care of you enough. i can see this. this is a good reason for you to be happy.

well, my friend, it means that you can be restive with the thought that you have a good backup somewhere. it would feel so different if the back up was nowhere to be found.

8 years ago, my hubby & I settled in his ancestral home and lived there for 3 years until we got our very own. It's not a house but we've managed to live by ourselves separated & independently in a condominium located at the heart of the city. Although it's really not a dream house but for a start, we are very much contented in a small living space compared to the former house we lived at.

I rent the house that I am living in. I've been living here for the past 12 years now so it feels like home. Though I do worry a bit about what will happen if my husband, kids, and I will have to move. Because I know one day we will have to.

Yes, very contentedly settled. Five years ago my husband and I sold our house in Maryland and moved down here to south central Florida where the pace is slower and the people are much nicer. We bought two properties side by side and now my oldest daughter and her family are our neighbors so I get to see my grandchildren every day. Before buying my first home I rented for many years and, I agree, that there is a big difference when your home is yours.

My boyfriend and I are renting an apartment right now. I would feel nice if we had a house of our own as a back up. I am not settled or content with this tiny apartment.

that is also how i feel about the apartment that we are renting this time. i couldn't take roots in it. in other words, it will never offer me any feeling of stability at all.

Hi there. Legally, we don't really own and are simply renting the house my family and I are residing in right now. However, it's my Aunt who's based in the US who owns it; as such, the security is still there.

yes, there is security in your present setup, nekonyanta. if i have the same opportunity given to me, i will gladly accept it. but, we all know that the opportunity such as yours, is very rare.

hello trinidadvelasco right now my family and myself are living in a two-story house. we have lived here in the same house now for almost six years. it will be six years that we have lived in the same place now this coming April. it sure doesn't seem like that we have been living here now for six years. time flys by so fast. so i guess that you would say that i am currently settled into a house that i have lived in now for sometime now. and by the way, where do you live now? did you move from the Philippines? thanks for sharing. take care and have a beautiful evening.

we are still living in the philippines, tnwoman. the apartment that we are renting, we have been here for more than a year now. the neighborhood is very friendly and secure. davao city is located in the island of mindanao whereas, manila is located in the island of luzon. from manila to luzon, there are so many islands yet to cross. that's how we are from our very own home at this time. we have relocated here for the sake of my sick son. the food supplements which have been giving him the best health effects are all readily available here. when he will have considerably improved on his health condition, we will be moving back to davao city again.

So you have two places? Why rent if you own? I own the house I live in. It is home for me. I remeber renting an apartment and I hated the fact that I had people that lived so close that they could hear things you did if you were to loud. Music, talking, playing anything. I like knowing there is more privacy in having your own home. but sometimes it is nicer to rent becuase if something goes wrong you just have to call your landlord to come and fix it instead of trying to fix it yourself or having to pay someone to come fix it for you. We need a new roof on our house and there is no way we can afford it, so it is times like this that I wish I just rented a place.

we are renting an apartment right now because, the house we call our very own is situated so very far away from where we are right now. the first cluster of islands in the philippines is luzon and the third one is mindanao. our property is located in mindanao and we are currently settled here in luzon, that's why we have to rent. as for the maintenance of your house, all that you have to do will be to save some money which shall not be touched. it shall be a reserved amount for house repairs. since you are not renting the house that you are settled in, there is no excuse why you cannot set aside the equivalent of fifty dollars a month for this purpose. the money goes to the bank in the same amounts month after month. when yo do this you will notice that you will always have enough for house repairs.
