How much of a paycut would you take to save a coworkers job?

I am curious, I was put with this question once a long time back. A local company I worked for was having budget problems and would have had to lay off a couple workers. We decided instead that everyone would take a 5% pay cut to keep those others in work. I am wondering if your company gave you the option, layoff of some of your coworkers, or everyone take a pay cut, would you do it? How much of a cut would you take if the answer is yes?

I would do it. My b/f had that option recently.Either they could all cut 1 hour of their 40 hour work week or they would lay off some of the employees.It was like he didn't get the raise at the first of the year so it didnt affect his pay check. It was better than loosing a job, at least they are working.
