Visiting family can be a rewarding experience. It's what you make of it. You say it is boring, why? Are they not good conversationalists? You can ask them about themselves, what are their interests, where do they like to go and do, what was it like when they were growing up, ask about what school was like for them, did they have siblings, did they play childhood games, what are their hobbies, interests, their jobs, ask how their children are if they have them, and so forth. Make it about them and you may find out that it can be a lot more interesting than what you envision in your mind. Unless it's a toxic abusive situation, family can be a very good thing to have.
