Of actually starting a book club. I'm not sure if i want to do it online or if i want to do it with close personal friends. From what i have heard it can be pretty hard to start one up but once you have one going they can actually be very interesting and get you reading a better varity of books. Has anyone been apart of a book club if so how was it and was it more personal friends or was it a varity of people?

Online book library? Well I think you should be aware of one issue... It is only a very thin line between bookclubs and pirates. There is no fools proof tech exist to assure that a data in electronic form cannot be forge|modify|copy. So... big publisher did not sale an ebook. Yes they operate an online bookstore, but not ebook bookstore.
I suggest keep it in your personal friends membership. It is safer and less hussle.

i dont' think you understood what i was wanting to do. Basically a book club is where people read books and then they go to a place or a website to talk about what they thought about that book. Not that we would be sharing copy's of ANY book at all.

I have never been in a book club either but I would be interested in one, depending on the genre of books. If you were to start on on-line you should keep us updated.

i will but i think the online one would be a little tricky i would have to start a web site that everyone can go on and post their opinions on the book and we would only have 1 book every 1-2 months so that way discussions could continue on a regular basis but i think it may be fun so i may just do it if i do i will post something letting people know

If you like discussing books, you might visit online readers' communities like goodreads.com and shelfari.com. There you will find readers of everykind, and you can create your group in their discussion forum. I think that will make the task of putting together your online book club easier.
I run a romance readers reading challenge group in goodreads.com, and its fun to hang out with people who shares the same reading interest as I do. Visit the sites, and pick the one that will fit your needs.
Good luck in your online book club group.

I love goodreads.com. I'm practically addicted to the site. I love to read, and being in a place right now where I don't have many reader friends, goodreads provide me a forum where I can find online friends I can talk about books.
I'm not sure what books are you into, but if you like romance, check out my challenge group..

Can you give any specifics as to what you had in mind for the book club to be like?
I might be interested. I don't know if you've ever heard of goodreads.com but I'm a member. I guess you could consider it a book club of sorts. If you're not already familiar with it you might want to check it out. It might give you some ideas. Good luck.

I think that book clubs can be something nice and constructive to do and also a great way to interact with others. I think you are right. An online book club could work. It does seem that going on line is what works best for a lot of people these days. I wonder if anyone still reads books anymore what with all of these computers these days!

Actually, I am not a part of any book club so far, but I really love to be in that club. Since last year, I keep on talking this to my closest friends but then they are not interested maybe because they are not a book reader, but I am a book worm and really love to form a book club.
I read one article in a Preview magazine based in the Philippines about forming a book club and it is very interesting indeed where every weekend they gather and select one member to host the event, the host will act as a moderator at the same time to keep the discussions alive, they also vote to select a book to be discussed on each gathering. Quite interesting, but until now, I have no friends who are interested.
