Many of you will know that I have been guiding at my local 750 year old cathedral for the past six months. However, in order to guide large groups round the whole Cathedral I have had to attend a course which has at times been quite stressful. However, somehow, yesterday I managed to drag myself to the winning post and I am now a fully accredited guide. For reasons that I won't go into, this has been a major achievement for me. I know that I couldn't have done it without my friends here urging me on. So to them all "Thank you". Have you ever achieved something with the help and encouragement of online friends?

I received it a few days before my power was restored after the ice storm hit my state bad. SO it was a very good highlight of my week and made my day brighter..

SO good, P1key! None of us ever doubted you, however. Your calming and dulcet tones are just what the cathedral needs (or the local Shakespeare Company, even). If I ever find myself over that way, your cathedral will be first on my list of 'must sees'. I'll be sure to check first that I'll be on your watch. We're all very proud, and hope you can feel the vibes from afar. And no, as yet I have achieved nowt. But there's probably always hope ...

Hahaha - a bigger achievement would have been a NON-abusive daughter! (But we can't have everything!) It's mind-boggling to think of a 750yo cathedral. I'm wondering if the original inhabitants are watching you doing your tours and laughing at your funny clothes! (Have you ever felt anything odd?)

I'm not a Christian.I know Christians go to church,Muslims go to mosque,Buddhists go to pagoda and Hidus go to temple in search of eternal peace. In practical iife we have to face many problems. Some times we become tired. We feel helpless. Then we take the shelter of religion.Mental peace is a stage of mind that have to achieve
by some practice. In our religion that is in Buddhism the practice is called Meditation.I can't help you.I want your help.

I am not religious Bhansub, I do try to follow a "Christian" way of life. My main interest is in the Cathedral as a building of antiquity and as a centre of worship over the centuries. I think that all religions have an inspirational aspect; Buddhism especially.

Yay, P1key!!!!! Congrats, my friend. How I would love to attend one of your guided tours. A 750 year old cathedral... how facinating it must be!

I think I probably owe my whole current lifestyle on online friends, and the changes which precipitated it.
Learning via the internet that there were other people who had similar ideas and similar aims to myself was a huge inspiration and opened my mind to new possibilities. I've relied on those same people for further information and motivation ever since.
Perhaps not specifically myLot friends, but there are many close communities on the net.

Well done P1. That is an achievement indeed. Hope you continue to have many happy guiding times.
I know the cathedral quite well as a few years ago I was the organiser of the Salisbury College graduation there. It was rather a nightmare of project management but the cathedral is so wonderful, and the people I met there and in Sarum College were really helpful.
Online friends are important to me too. It was the people at Writelink who encouraged me with my writing before I came here, so that after a gap of nearly twenty years I started to get things published again.

Thank you. I remember the press coverage in the Journal about the graduations. I'm not sure that they hold them there now. I don't know Writelink. My writing tends to be stuck away although a friend is compiling my shorts stories with a view to publishing them. Good luck to you in your writing endeavours. Hopefully I might see you at the Cathedral one day.

I think the one I did was the penultimate time the college held its graduation there. After that they were desperately trying to cut costs, and now it seems they have been merged with Wiltshire College. I've lost touch with all my mates there so I don't know what's happened to them. You should pay www.writelink.co.uk a visit. My name there is jak. I'll probably contact you when I have visitors to take around the cathedral.

Well done pike ! it is really good to hear such good news about those stressful test that you were always complaining about :D I think the fact that i am still on mylot is an achievement worthy to attribute at least partially to my friends here, as after my first payment i was lacking to interest to go on because i was away for vacation, and my interest in mylot dropped since 4 months passed and i was yet to reach the second payment.

Hi ya p1kef1sh
I don't think I contributed in supporting you much but I did want to take this opportunity to say a huge congratulations to you and well done! I don't think I could have been as active on myLot if it hadn't been for the help of my online myLot friends as when I had questions about myLot they have come through for me!

Congratulations p1kef1sh and very well done to you, that's a really great achievement you must feel so proud of yourself.
I have achieved alot online with another person, I've never met him and have no plans to ever met him but he did become a good friend and offered me a lot of support last year when I lost my sister, it's very odd this internet land and the attachments we seem to form on it.
