This good like a bad year for lot of us all over the world. Wonder anyone out there who have been retrench and is worry about not able to find a job recently. It is also tough for those who have to decide who have to submit name at this period. To me, those who is retrenach might not be as bad as one think while those who remain might not be as good as what he think. It will be a new chapter in life. Hope that everyone survive on the coming year. Thinking back, what should I do, if I get retrench?

I think your exactly right. We all need to think about it before it happens, because it could happen to many more of us before it is over. If the economy recovers it will take us a while to get back on our feet. I am just really thankful that I still have my job and that I don't really have to worry at this point about layoffs.

Good to hear that you are prepare for it. Life is always cruel and if I am layoff, I think I will spend sometime to do what I always crave for. Need a good rest after so many of hardwork. Been through it three times over so many years and have seen some many friend left my company. Life must go on.

If I remember correctly, I have started a similar discussion a month ago, regarding our retrenchment program in the company. It was entitled, What should I do if I become jobless?
In fact, we were given our notice of separation last week which indicated that our employment is guaranteed only until the end of this month (March). Naturally, we are going to receive a separation pay but absolutely, it won't last us a year or more. We might still be employed for a few more weeks until a month but there isn't any assurance from the management.
Needless to say, I really need to double or even triple my efforts to earn as much as I could while I still have a job now. I couldn't possibly afford to be jobless because aside from utility bills and other daily expenditures, my spouse and I have a daughter for a child who relies on us for everything.
Presently, I am looking into other lawful earning opportunities whether online or offline, just to earn extra income which will definitely help me and my own family in the coming days.
I even heard from a local news that it is feared that the effects of this global economic crisis might even last until the year 2011. It's a bleak scenario but good luck to all of us.
