Do you agree that smoking is an illicit thing

In my country,a moment ago religious organization had made a statement that smoking is an illicit thing.Before that statement passed,that made a lot of pro and contra.The pro said that smoking is danger for the smoker and the people aroung them,and may be there are many people who did not a smoker but have a smoker disease like lungs cancer.The contra said that to ban smoking must not make an illicit statement, because there are many labour of the cigarette factory be aggrieved if their factory bankrupt.Beside that to control smokers,we could valorize the cigarettes and make no smoking area at public area.In my country the price of cigarettes are very cheap less than $1,so many people moreover many children could buy it.Maybe the law in my country is not powerful yet,so a religous organization make that statement to control the smoker.What is your opinion about this case?Do you agree that smoking be regulated in our religious?
