With spring training starting soon, it is time for another looooooong season for us Cubs fans. It will be long either because we will play great in the regular season and then botch the playoffs OR we'll just have a bad year like we usually do. Even though we've had an excellent decade, we don't know what we are going to get. Or, maybe this year will be different?

The cubbies have another good lineup again this year. So the expectaions for them will be high again. I really like the fact that they added a couple more left handed bats to the lineup like Milton Bradely as long as he can keep his attitude in check, and if Kosuke can get back on track like he was during the first have of the year last season. which will help with the right handed pitching in the league. Nobody knows for sure how the season will go, but on paper they look like they have just as good of shot as anyteam. Being a loyal cubs fan that I am if this season doesn't turn out the way I would like I will grin and say the same thing cubs fans has been saying for a hundred years "There's always next year"

Thanks for commenting. I'm looking forward to the year when we can say "who cares about next year - we won this year!"

Brian, I have to be honest with you, I think my heart is still broken from the playoffs last season. I still can't believe how awful they were, after such a great season. My brother has been watching the new MLB channel several times a day to keep up with every little morsel of information. Me, I just hope that once they start playing, my heart can mend enough for me to enjoy the games again.

I FEEL YA! Of course, I'm still hurting from the 1984 playoff blunder (after being up 2-0, in a 5 game series), the 2003 collapse from a 3-1 lead, and the last two years. But I'm a big boy now, I'll be ready for a new season :-)

Well, I live here in Seattle now, but I still follow the Cubs and would Love to see them in the World Series and Win one. I would definately be happy. I grew up in IL so I am a die hard Cubbies fan, and always will be. I would Love to go to Peoria, AZ on yr. during the Spring training and watch the Cubbies play. Back when I took my husband to Chicago almost 6 yrs. ago we went and walked around near Wrigley field and bought a whole bunch of Cubs stuff. Wishing the Cubs the Best.

I don't care if we win or lose. I just like to watch the game. We seem to have flashes of brilliance in between disappointments. That is what this Cub fan lives for. Also, I know that one of these days the stars will align and our Cubbies will win it all! I can't wait to see how our team shapes up this year. I wish I were rich enough to spend the spring at spring training and the summer following them around and rooting them on. I am not, and will have to make due with the wonderful coverage of WGN.

Season tickets would be a blast some time! I live in FL and have been able to go to some spring training games for the Astros. But even those are expensive, like $17. They should be more like $5, and if they were, I'd go to more. Heck, even the Cubs playoff at Atlanta in 2003 was only $10 (of course, I had to drive there). But those were cheap tickets, and good seats. And what a pleasure it was to see the Cubs in the playoffs, before my very eyes. And they won! That was the game where Kerry Wood doubled in the key runs in like the 7th inning.

Oh my goodness Brian, you said it! And yes, I do care. I would love to see the Cubs come in and rock the world, have the best season ever AND win the World Series. Last year was too much pressure with the 100 year anniversary of the last time the won and all. LOL Any excuse will do, right!
So, they are playing the Yankees at the new Yankee stadium in the last games of Spring Training on April 3rd and 4th. The tickets start at 25 cents because they are selling for the same price as the tickets were when they built the last Yankee stadium. How hard do you think it would be to get tickets to that? I am sure it would be difficult, but I would love to go see my Cubbies in NYC!

Go Cubs 2009!
Wow, I hadn't heard about those ticket prices. Hopefully lots of New Yorkans who normally couldn't go to a game will be able to go.

Yes, I'm starting to feel it too as I read about the team reporting and beginning their drills. I miss Kerry Wood though. It will be odd without him.
