I'm lucky enough to be able to work in a store where I can listen to my own music - granted that it's "work appropriate" (easy listening, no profanity), and I want to make a mix CD that I can listen to while working. I generally like rock. Do you have any ideas of what I could put on the mix CD (I'm drawing a blank)?
So far, I have:
"Drive" by Incubus
"One Headlight" by the Wallflowers
Do you have any to suggest? My only request is that the songs don't have profanity in them! Thanks, I'd appreciate it!

Most of the stuff I listen to isn't very 'work friendly' lol.
Have you thought about finding some acoustic versions of your favorite rock songs? That way they would be mellow enough to possibly fit in with the 'light rock'/easy listening vibe, but yet you still get to listen to stuff you like.
Let's see...Anberlin have some songs that might work, like A Day Late, Inevitible or The Unwinding Cable Car. Those are some of their lighter songs. Maybe Belle & Sebastian's If She Wants Me. Maybe some Butch Walker? Some of his songs might not work, but some would...like Don't Move or So At Last..if I remember correctly neither of those have any swear words.
Panic At The Disco's last album had some mellower songs on it...maybe Northern Downpour.
Some non-rock stuff that it seems everyone I know listens to (I'm not necessarily a big fan of all these...but others seem to be), that would fit the 'light rock'/easy listening vibe:
Daniel Powter's - Bad Day , Sara Bareilles - Love Song , and Colbie Caillat - Bubbly

Did you like that band Oasis? They have some good songs without swears. Tom Petty is one of my favorites, he could definitely go on a mix like that. It's hard for me personally to make a mix without at least one Beatles song--haha.

I honestly don't think I could listen to Evanescence or Paramore (I love Paramore!) at work - I'm familiar with the bands and they're not really "easy listening" (although I love "Decode" - what a great song). I need "light rock", otherwise I could get in trouble. But I'll check out your other suggestions. Thanks!

I could sit here all day and list music, but instead will point you to my favorite free music sharing site... It is Frostwire.com, and they have everything you can think of. It works like napster, but there is no charge. I have a huge file of my faves right on my desktop and listen to it while I mylot (tee hee)! If I had to throw out a suggestion, though, try Stroke Nine's "little Black Backpack" or maybe Barenaked Ladies "If I had a Million Dollars". They are two of my favorite songs!

Anything by the Foo Fighters.
The Cranberries, Third Eye Blind, Semisonic, Green Day, even some Red Hot Chili Peppers, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Who
If you look, you will find some good music.
