I find that if you explore a city on the internet and get to know every aspect of the city including good eating places, places of interest and some important shopping centers and routes, it becomes much easier when you go there physically. Once you reach there, you feel as though you have been there earlier. You can explore it with the help of Google satellite pictures. Do you explore before visiting?

Hi mercuryman! I do like to research the city I'm going to visit first. I find it easier to plan my vacation or ventures when knowing what is available to me in the area I'm going to. I also find it easier to get around.

whenever i go to other places and countries, i always research as much as i could about the place over the internet. it makes me aware of what to expect, where to shop, what attractions to visit, where to eat and thus making the most out of my travel.

For me, it is a special talent to picture out a place by looking at a map or drawing it in the air how it looks like. Following a new direction specially instructed verbally is like solving a puzzle. At last internet helps me to plan my trips and teach me where to go almost very detailed. Site maps that include all information like roads or streets, cheap hotels and reservations, site beauty spots and even people. I went to australia last year and the internet had provided me all the informations for my itinerary.

Hi, mercuryman3a. yes, i do. i usually make a very detailed tourism plan before seting out. i'll search on the internet, visit some famous travelling forum, read the posts by some visitors, collect their suggestions. this is a brainstorming process. when i get enough information, i start to plan. first, the tourist attractions i want to sightsee, then the accommodation (usu, i'll book through the internet). after that, on a daily basis, make a very detailed plan including the tourist route, transportation and which restaurant i'll lunch and supper. it takes some time but rewarding, and always ensures a happy tour.

yes definitely so that i can focus on the famous and "MUST GO" place. This will be more efficient as it is quite expensive to travel overseas, considering the expensive airplane ticket.

yes, i'd like to look at the map before i go to there. u should have a general impression of the city, maybe the renowed places, the most busy streets, the most beautiful natural sites...even, i just imagine if i'm in the map, how can i get the places one by one.i mean i would have a plan first and then "to look at them in the reality", from the 2 aspects i can know the city well and have a good trip.

I'll definitely check on the accomodation, transporation and places of interest to get as much information as possible. This will save a lot of time trying to figure out the basic information.

I usually will so I can make sure and find out what to see, what time attractions are open, etc., but I also like to go off the beaten path and away from the usual tourist venues so that I can get a feel for the place and people.

If I'm planning a big trip, I do. When planning for my trip to England two years ago, I did a lot of research. I looked at maps, asked my friends questions, read books, reviews, etc. I did all I could to learn about various things so we weren't totally lost when we got there. And that's how I found several of the places we visited. I had no idea where we were going to go until I discovered them in my search. We had a few bumps along the way but it was pretty smooth for the most part.

Hi mercuryman. Yes i do. When i went to Rome Italy last month i checked the internet and see its map. I also joined some forums and it did help me a lot to make our itinerary. Through it i learned what places are worth visiting for and what are the streets that will lead us directly to the places we intended to visit and save time. You are right my friend, its like you have visited already the city, the difference is all i saw was for real and history of those places engulfed me.

Well I have not travelled anywhere yet to do so. But when I do, I will love to look more into a city before setting out to visit it. I will feel more at ease to know that I am familiar with my routes, and what is all included in my tourism plan. This is a smart idea!

Hello There! Yes, I have this habit of checking the place if they do have a web site on the Internet to check the possible activities that we can do once we get there. If they don't have a site, I usually search on travel forums or blogs that has information about the place. Sometimes, it is really better to check out peoples comments since they already visited the place. For many times now, we survey the place via the Internet to check if we will be able to enjoy and relax there. It is really cool! Goodluck! Thank you for the discussion. Happy Mylotting and Have a great day!

Yep I do. I don't like to ask directions, or get information from locals. I'm independent, and like to figure things out on my own. I always research a place I will be going to. Restaurants, hotels, attractions, roads, living conditions, whatever.

It has been many years since we have had a vacation, or even a small trip, but yes I would check out the city or vacation spot online before we would go visit.. that way I would have more of an idea of what to do when we get there and even what to pack for the weather and such... now we are a family of four and that would be so important to me to know that information. before when we traveled, pretty much before we were married, it was easier and we had less to pack if we go somewhere, so now that we have 2 kids, I kinda need more info...LOL I hope that made sense...
