Valentines Day Is A Day For Love!

Can you feel it? Love is in the air!! I know I'm feeling it and it sure does feel "Oh so good!" Ok, I'll get to the point of my discussion.... To explain, my beloved grandmother had always taken me under her wing. Even when I got into trouble that wasn't really my own undoing, just caught at the wrong place at the wrong time doing what I should'nt have been doing, she covered for me. She did so much for me while I was growing up that I'll forever be grateful for. When I turned 18, she gave me a beautiful but simple birthstone ring. Oh it was absolutly beautiful! I loved that ring so very much and always had it on my finger. Then when I turned 21, she gave me a birthstone necklace to match the ring! How did she do that, I'll never know because sets broken don't last for long but she must've gotten it around the same time as the ring and kept it all that time. 2 months after I turned 21, I got married to my first husband. One night I realized the stone in my ring was missing! I was so upset! The next thing I knew, my ex came in the house and said he found my stone in the wet grass (it was raining)! Mind you, my birthday month is in August so my stone is Peridot (Green) so how in the world did my ex find the stone in wet grass?! I'll never know!! I was able to get the ring fixed and wore it with so much pride. Eventually the stone fell out again and this time I found the stone but it was so scratched up that I thought about getting a new stone put in but couldn't bring myself to do that because this stone is the original so I had it put back in. I got a divorce and dated a guy for almost three years before he was killed and eventually met and married my husband now and have been happy ever since. Again, the stone fell out and again I found it but this time we didn't have the money to put the stone back in again so it sat for some time and then eventually I lost the stone. I know I put it somewhere safe so I wouldn't lose it but I can't find it anywhere. I'm wondering if my dear beloved grandmother had returned from the grave and had gotten it some how and is hiding it so I wouldn't put it back in but instead I'd get a new stone put in. It's been years since I last saw the stone so I think it's long gone now. So hubby wanted to know what I wanted for Valentines Day. Usually there's nothing that I want because it's true, I'm happy with my life and don't want anything but this year I told him that I want to find out how much it would cost to have a new stone put in my ring as well as the other ring that hubby gave me where a ruby is missing. Come to find out it's going to cost $130.!! That's it!! Now I had gotten estimates before with jewelers in the malls but they wanted such outlandish prices that I didn't dare agree to so I had given up but this time I decided to try an independant dealer and his prices are very reasonable so hubby is getting my rings repaired for Valentines Day!! Yippeeee!! And you know, I have this feeling that my grandmother will be back with the orginal stone and I'll find it somewhere and if I do, I'll be sure to put it somewhere that I know I won't lose it again and even maybe, someday put it inside some peice of jewelry for safe keeping such as a cage like thing. It means the world to me and I don't want to part with it, that is IF I can find it again. So tell me, are you getting anything special for Valentines Day? Or are you doing anything special on this special day?

I am taking my boyfriend out to dinner and I am getting him a Lego set that he wanted for Valentine's Day. My boyfriend loves Legos.

He loved the Legos. He mostly loves the mini figures because of the things that he can do with them (web comics, web films, and things like that). Legos are not as expensive as you might think because it depends on what you buy and it depends on where you get them from. See, I get my Legos on discount that way I save money. Where I am from (the Pomona, California area), we can get things on sale if we only look for it. By the way, Legos are not just for kids. A lot of adults love them because of how versatile they are. You can do just about anything with Legos. My boyfriend made a mini figure that looks just like me, and I love looking at her. He also made one of himself and I love seeing our two many figures together.

That's really cool! I had just bought another box of them and there's 405 pieces and it was on sale for $24.97 from $29.97 so I was able to save some. We got the logs too, not for us but for our God kids when they come up. This time there should be enough to make all the things they want to make and keep. If not then I guess I'll get another box.... lol

Sorry for being so late in responding!! Did you get the dog something? If you did, how did he like it? He'll be expecting something from you every time he sees you!! lol I had a dog who loved my oldest brother very much that she'd jump straight up in the air continuously inside the fence until he got to her and she'd go balistic if he had his boat!! She soooo loved to go fishing with him. She's crossed the Rainbow Bridge but she'll never be forgotten!!

I can't comment on Valentines Day as it's a bit lonely for me but I can certainly relate to losing precious and semi-precious stones. I've probably lost thousands of dollars worth over the years. Imagine the lovely pile if all the lost precious and semi precious stones were lumped together...lol. That was a good story cats, having your rings back must be like having them new all over again...hope your Valentine's day is happy.

To be honest, I don't have a plan for Valentines Day yet. Most of the time, my hubby and I went out to have a dinner and give little present to each other. For this year, I do want to have someting different and special. I want to have some change. So I will continue thinking about it until I get a good idea.

Depending on where you live and the weather, my suggestion would be to have a picnic with your hubby! My hubby and I used to do that when we lived in Texas if the weather was nice and had such a wonderful time! We took our dogs with us and they jumped into the creek and back out and in again over and over. They were such a joy and made our day extra special..... Good luck and Happy Valentines Day!

What does your hubby do overseas? I'm sorry to hear about that! You two should be on the same continent.... but I do understand the man has to go where the money is to support his family but gosh, a continent away? Hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day with your sister....

Thats such a special story about your grandma. I had a special grandma too. I do my best to be a special grandma to my grandchildren. I do hope you find that stone, I am also thrilled for you that you are getting your rings repaired. See this is going to be a terrific year for you and for hubby too. Sadly I don't have a Valentine, maybe next year I will have one. I have my grandkids, my 4 yr.old grandson spends lots of time with me, he makes sure I am not lonely. Happy Valentines Day Cats, I hope its the best ever.

Thanks Polly! She was really special to me! We've made a lot of wonderful memories, that's for sure. The only regret that I have is that I didn't record her voice and stories she told about her childhood and growing up years. She really had some really neat stories, some sad and some not so sad but really great stories nonetheless. It might pay for you to do that for your grandkids. They may not appreciate it now but they certainly will later on in life. I hope to find the stone too. I'm anxious to find out if my theory is true! lol

I'm usually one wanting for nothing because there isn't anything that I really want but this year, I decided to tell hubby that I want my rings repaired so I can wear them again. Hope you have a wonderful Valentines Day! Lots of hugs and love to you from me!!

As far as I know, absolutely nothing special is planned for Valentine's Day. My husband's birthday is Feb. 12 and he's too wrapped up in that to give Valentine's Day any thought... well, maybe a fleeting thought but not much more. PLUS, I have my disability hearing on Feb. 13, so that really is consuming most of my time and thoughts. I just got back from 'making the rounds', picking up medical reports and prescription reports. I still have 2 to go so that won't be off my mind until they're in my hand. My husband doesn't put any thought into special occasions like Valentine's Day or birthdays (except for his). So, I'm not expecting anything. It would be SO NICE to go out to a nice steakhouse for dinner this Saturday but, with our finances the way they are, I don't see that happening. Your story about that ring is really something! Having lost it and then found it twice already, I have the feeling it's going to turn up again, most likely right after you get the ring back with the new stone in it. If I lost the birthstone in my ring (given to me by my mother... her engagement ring that my father gave her), I'd just have to cry. My birthstone is a diamond. I rarely wear it because I'm afraid of losing it! It sounds like you've learned real quick not to trust the jewelry stores in malls. Their prices are so jacked up it boggles my mind as to how they remain in business!

I'm going to ask you to send me an email and give me your address because nobody should go without at least a card!! Geeze... I couldn't handle having a self centered butt head for a husband. Feel free to correct me on that if you want but from what you've described, I should'nt be far off the mark. Maybe once you get your disability, you'll get enough to make it on your own and be able to kick his butt out the door if and when you want to. You know, my mom said something that really made sense. I had some change purses that I didn't want to use because hubby had gotten them for me from Japan and she told me that if they're still around when I'm gone, someone else will use them so why not use them myself and get the enjoyment out of them myself instead of letting them go to someone else to enjoy. She's so wise in some things so I heeded her advice and used them till they fell apart. If my stone is found, I'll let you know for it would be right interesting, wouldn't it? lol I'll KNOW then for sure that my grandmother had something to do with it and for that I'll have to find a way to thank her, but how? I'll have to think of something since I'm so far from her grave.

Hey cats! What a nice story! I don't have any big plans for Valentines Day. I will make my boyfriend a nice dinner of something that he likes because I haven't been cooking much lately and he deserves it for putting up with me not feeling well. I'll buy him something, but nothing extravagant just a little something cute. We will just stay home like we usually do on the weekends since he is tired from working all week. It won't be a big celebration, just a nice dinner and we will be together.

Thank you! It's a true story too. We usually go out to dinner and give each other a card on most holidays but this one will be extra special. It's been years since I've had my ring intact so it'll be right nice to get it back.
