My first cat's name was Speedy, as we was somewhat like Speedy Gonzales, always running around even when he got older. When my mom called him to get his food, he used to get to the kitchen in 3 seconds tops no matter where he was coming from the house.
How about you, what is the meaning of your cat's name ? Or if it has no meaning why did you choose it ?

Hi elitess,
No my Baby only answer to Baby and not Gizmo and my Tom only answer to Tom or Thomas and Basil like my hubby calls him but he thinks they do, I just think is the sound of his voice that they answer him to.

My cats' names are Spot and Fur. Spot got her name because of the large yellow spot on her back. Fur got his name from a TV character that my brother used to watch. The name of the character sounded like Fur so he named the cat fur.

I have three cats and two dogs. The first cat we got we called Ozzy after Ozzy Osbourne and the first dog Zakk after Ozzys guitarist. The next two cats are Oscar and Wilde, after the Irish playwright. Then the second dog we named Amber after a character in TV show that we liked. I have two pics in my profile of Wilde if you care to look, although he looks a little scary in one of them.

I call my cat William Wallace.
Originally, we called him Billy, from a small play starring Alexandru Arsinel and Stela Popescu about Billy-boy, who Arsinel thinks is Stela's lover but it turns out to be a dog.
But then, I remembered of an episode from "The Grim adventures of Billy and Mandy", when Billy's cat, Milkshakes, eats a bookworm and becomes smart. At one time it calls Billy "young William" (as we know, Billy is a diminutive for William), and it came to me that William sounds more ... elegant, if you will.
Of course, if I started calling him William, why not add the Wallace to be named just like the famous Scottish leader - Braveheart?

How much time do you have? LOL! I will try to keep it short. We moved in this house a few years ago and found a cat living in the work shop. He quickly became adopted and moved into the house but the name Shop Kitty has stuck ever since. Last year, I found a starving cat in the yard and started feeding her. My daughter announced on day that she named her Princess because she looked like a princess (I dont think so, maybe a princess that has been run over by a truck a few times maybe, she is really ratty!) so that became her name. I noticed she was pregnant and took her in and she had 5 adorable kittens. I named them after old baseball players, we had 2 girls Mickey (Mantle) and Ty (Cobb) and 3 boys Babe (Ruth) Joe (Jackson) and Lou (Gehrig). Well, I tried to put Princess back outside, but she wouldnt leave and she had 5 more kittens. No themes this time we just picked out names, we had Bear (he looked like a bear cub) and Bruce, Chloe, Zena and Zoey. Well, she did it yet again after those cuties were gone and had 5 MORE!!! I just got silly with these guys (there is one on my shoulder as I type this) So now we have 1 boy who needed a really tough name, Rambo, and his 4 sisters Twigs (the runt with really skinny legs) Taloolah, Sassafras, and Tango. How can one good deed of feeding a starving cat go so far astray? I have become an expert at rehoming kittens, I could make a career out of this! Sadly to say though, Princess' days are numbered here with us, as soon as her babies are old enough she is moving to a new farm where any future kittens will be welcomed.

The good thing that i want in he cat is the color, the color that i was really want to a cat is the color white. . . Because for me the color white really gives elegant looking and here in our country there is so many kind of colors of cats and many of my country men really want to choose the whitd color also. . . Well i guess that is the end of my response in this forum topic entitled "what is the meaning of your cat's name". I have 3 cats.
One is named Sophie, because of a movie - Halloweentown.
I loved the movie at the time, and the name and thought it would be perfect for a cat.
My other two are brother and sister, named Jack and Sally.
They were named from the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas.
It has, and always will be one of my favorite movies.
I've also considered naming two male cats Tim and Burton!
Hahaha.
That man is a genius!!!!!

Sounds like a very appropriate name for your cat then! lol. It has been a very long time since I owned a cat but the last one I had was named "Claude". There was no meaning behind it in the same spirit as the way Speedy was named though. He was a pedigree Burmese and his name on his certificate was Claudius something or other, so we just shortened it to Claude! A family I knew back home once had a cat they called Herpes, because they could never get rid of it!

My cats had very common names - tiger, lizzy, dizzy, snowball. My grandma's cats had local names, but were always - Kandan for males, which means a wild creature that roams a dense forest, Chucky for females - im not sure what it means, but its not the chucky the doll.
Most of my cats were white and black, except Tiger - which was so like its name. When he grew older, he looked a lot more like a tiger - huge head and scary temper.
Happy mylotting
