I guess it would depend on the person they bit and the circumstances. Here where I live, if a dog bites a kid, the animal control people come and take it away and they put it to sleep. If the person was pestering the dog and the dog bit him, I'd keep him away from strangers. If the dog got aggressive all on its own, then I might have to put it down.

First and foremost, before your dog gets to bite someone, make sure it has been properly medicated with the required shots for pets so as not to have problems with rabies and others.
Now, if my dog gets to bite someone, I would have worries about it running loose at home with my family and kids around. So, I'd truly have second thoughts of it just running loose. On the other hand, we don't really know if the bite was actually an accident or was provoked, right? So, it would also be harsh if I'd put her down just because of that incident. Unless of course if the biting is recurring. So, I think I'd steer her clear from strangers for now.
But if the biting is recurring, then perhaps she has a problem and it would be best if I just let them put her down.
How bout you?

Dogs are usually biters because people make them that way. They have a breaking point that is easily reached when they are backed into a corner I suppose you can say. When I was younger I was bit on the face by a dog, and that dog was very sweet to so many people, but since I was a child and probably in its face too much was most likely the reason. When I was about seven I got bit on the wrist, I am still scarred (physically) to this day, though the dog had a history with biting, because the owner had children who were very annoying and would not leave it alone, so when I grew up the dog and I were pretty good friends and she was a real sweety. We also once had a dog that attacked men if they had facial hair, it probably was abused I am thinking, by a man that had facial hair as well. My family bred many dogs, and sometimes we would rescue them, so our bite history came from people that did not take care of the dogs that they had properly, and in return they were feisty... Though they were tamable dogs, you just have to know them well and make sure you do not put them in a situation that threatens them. Every creature deserves a second, or even third chance at life, and that should be made possible some way.
