I personally like Laurell K Hamilton, and Anne Rice. Christopher Rice also had a good vampire series "The Last Vampire" that I liked as a teen. Who is your favorite vampire writer?

The only vampire tales I've read have been by Anne Rice. Can anyone recommend a certain title by the other authors you've mentioned?

I thought Guilty Pleasures was a funny place to start. Try to begin with The Laughing Corpse, the explainations are clearer there. Read the entire book, then backtrack back to Guilty Pleasures. That makes the Anita Blake series less confusing.

I guess it did kind of start weird. But you kind of need book 1 to know Jean Claude and that whole situation.

Start with "Guilty Pleasures" by Laurell K Hamilton.
Christopher Pike has The Last Vampire and their are six books in the series.
L.J. Smith is young adult and it's the night world series. I don't think you need to read them in any order, but they are numbered.

I enjoyed L. J. Smith's Night World and the vampires therein, and also her Vampire Diaries as a young teen. More recently, Christine Feehan's Dark series, although my favourite is still Laurell K. Hamilton. ;)

Oh! I had almost forgotten LJ Smith. I really liked those books too. Did you ever read her "Forbidden Game" Trilogy? It's not about vampires but it's still wonderful. I reread it recently.

I LOVED Christopher Pike's The Last Vampire series.. I've read them several times each. Even though I'm in my mid 20s now I probably would still pick it up to read. I liked LJ Smith's other books but I never did read his vampire series. There was another one that my little sister read and I picked up after she was done with it.. Chocolate Blood I think it was called? I recall enjoying that one but my all time favorite is The Last Vampire.
