What prompted this discussion was a TV Interview that I happened to watch for a few minutes today. An eighty five year old cartoonist was being interviewed and he spoke about his work, those being published , the latest compilation by a magazine etc..etc. When the interviewer questioned about his youthfulness at that age and asked him to share the secret behind it , with all he remarked that his sense of humour was the secret of his youth His cartoons and some of his other creative pieces of drawing were displayed and they were amazing ; he also said that it was his underlying sense of humour that helped him in life. Please share your thoughts on the subject.

Yes I certainly think that a sense of humour can help to keep you young. Having a good laugh on a regular basis has been proven to be good for the health, so a good sense of humour will help too. I wish we all had more opportunity to laugh and enjoy life, it might help more of us to have better health. :)

Sense of humour is one of the biggest asset one can have in life. One can laugh at the good and bad times, and that of course keeps one young and healthy. my husband too has a terrific sense of humour and I enjoy it a lot. He definitely does not look his age, except for the greying hair. If one can laugh at oneself, its even better.

Absolutely it does! Sense of humour is that one thing which gives us strength to smile off the bitterness in life and live life in optimism. sense of humour gives us the power to laugh at ourselves and make things easier. Its an amazing quality that drives us to get going.

I believe that sense of humour can keep a person young and also energetic.A person who is possessed with good sense of humour is usually optimistic. This helps a lot in our long and tiring life. Also,a person with sense of humour feels less stress, thus he tends to live an easy life.If he happens to have a light heart,he can live a long life with a young heart.

Hi Kalav, This is an important issue that we have sense of humor. It not only makes good friend around but also keeps your health good. But these days people have lost or forgotten to have sense of humour. They do not smile let alone laugh when there is a hilarious joke. What is this? Are we inside the cocoon and have forgotten all the laughter?

Thanks Rajib for the nice response. What you have pointed out is a sad thing. When people have a good sense of humour that good feeling gets permeated all over, and there is a general sense of well being. When there is less or no sense of humour, people tend to make mountains of molehills, and keep complaining about everything. I have seen such people and it is a rather difficult situation. How is your health?--Have you recovered completely from the viral fever? Or are there lingering exhaustion and after effects ?

Hi Kalav, I am too happy that friends like you still remember I was ill. Now I have almost recovered from the fever but still the weakness is there. Thanks again./

Kala, I don't agree with it. I am quite humorous but I look at least 5 to 8 years older than what I am. It has been so ever since I crossed my 30's. (No. My wife has nothing to do with it, I promise you!). If in doubt, see my profile photo in Helium. One advantage -- people like me for my humor and respect me for my looks! No complaints!!

I am sure your innocent wife has nothing to do with this , because if she were you would never have made such a remark! You are unaware of one advantage in looking older than you are! For eg, my father-in-law was bald when he got married at the age of 29.I have seen him for the past thirty years and I call him 'evergreen' and the secret of his was that he looked older than he was when he was young![This is the deduction that my son and I have arrived at!]So, when you are eighty, your children and wife can feel pleased that their father/husband is still young!

It should depends on what kind of humor they have. Sage said that smiling keep our young. I think it's because when we're smiling, most of our facial muscle works. Well, generally youngness meter is human face. No matter it's true or not, smiling is worth for our interpersonal relations.
