Why does the sun lighten our hair, but darken our skin?

It got my mind today as I have decided to let my real hair color grow, and to fasten getting back my real color the sun helps. Have you ever thought of that?

Hi, Lindery. I already have dark hair, so it would not really make any difference for me. If my hair was very light in color, the sun may darken my hair up a bit.

I think it's because of a skin pigment called melanin. The less melanin a human has, the whiter he/she is. Sun exposure can affect the production of melanin...
